‘Tis the season of gratefulness for gifts not received

There won’t be perfectly baked gourmet pizza at any Hill family campsites in 2018, and thank goodness for that.
It was a relatively sparse Christmas at our house this year. Among many other things, we did not get the Camp Chef Italia [sic] Artisan Pizza Oven, a substantial-looking aluminum equivalent to a brick oven for outdoor recreation.
Most of this was primarily by choice, because if we wanted, we could always follow the dicta of good old American consumerism and go into further debt to purchase things the kids would promptly toss under a bed or lose somewhere outside.
Fewer presents made for less up-front stress, easier cleanup, and more time for Christmas celebration with friends and neighbors at the house.
