Be wary of telephone solicitations
To the Editor:
I just received a telephone solicitation from the Firefighters Charitable Foundation. According to their data on charitynavigator.org this “foundation” spends 87.8 percent of their funds on fundraising and only 7 percent on programs, while their husband and wife officials have combined annual salaries of $101,000.
Search “Frank Tepedino firefighter” to learn more about this dubious “charity.” As a retired firefighter, I am shocked and appalled.
Also, the spammers/scammers are at it again with calls regarding problems with our computers. The say they’re from Microsoft, but Microsoft does not call us, but rather fixes things online.
