Shirley A. Ciesielski
Shirley Ann Ciesielski, 87, died Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2017, at Brookdale Senior Living under the care of Ministry Hospice.
A Mass of a Christian Burial was held Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2017, at St. Bronislava Catholic Church, Plover. Rev. Edward J. Shuttleworth officiated. Burial was at the Plover Cemetery. Visitation was Monday, Oct. 9, 2017, at the Shuda Funeral Chapel, Stevens Point, and again Tuesday morning prior to services. A rosary was prayed Monday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Ciesielski was born Jan. 30, 1930, to the late Harland K. McCormick and B. Fern Isherwood at St. Michael’s Hospital, Stevens Point (now Ascension St. Michael’s Hospital). She graduated eighth grade from Roosevelt State Graded School with second highest honors in Portage County. She graduated high school from P.J. Jacobs High School on May 28, 1947.
She was employed half days during her senior year as a bookkeeper by G.W. Frost and Sons Fishing and Tackle Mfg. until her marriage.
She was married to her high school sweetheart, Robert E. Ciesielski, Nov. 5, 1949, at St. Bronislava Catholic Church. Shortly after their marriage, they moved to Butler, then to Milwaukee until moving back to Plover Nov. 2, 1954.
Early in life, she was active in the 4-H Club as a Junior Leader and setting up a booth at the Rosholt Fair. After the children were in school, she was active in the Parent Teacher Association and other school activities. She also was active in the PCCHS (60-year member).
Mrs. Ciesielski worked at the Village Inn, Plover, and the Hot Fish Shop, Stevens Point. She then worked at Sentry Insurance from Jan. 4, 1965, until her retirement on Jan. 1, 1991, as a senior statistical analyst.
After retirement, she enjoyed making and selling crafts and her famous “Time-Out Kids” at the Holly Shoppe. She also enjoyed decoupaging plates, going to casinos, speed walking, family and her dogs, Rusty and the late Bubba. She also enjoyed attending NASCAR races and watching her grandsons, Matt and Scott, race at Golden Sands Speedway along with their father, Mark.
Survivors include her husband, Robert; two children, Mark S. Ciesielski (Cathy), Robert B. Ciesielski (Joelene), both of Plover; six grandchildren, Heidi Winterhack (Michael), Greta Olsen (Luke), Rob Ciesielski, Cory Ciesielski, Matthew Ciesielski (Mary), Terry (Joan) Jaecks and Scott Ciesielski (fiancee Becky Peterson); 10 great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Noel (Barbara) McCormick, James (Shirley) McCormick and Fred (Ginny) McCormick.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Nancy S. Schmidt.
