New weed commissioner will arrest wild parsnip
By Ken M. Blomberg – Special to the Gazette
There’s a new sheriff in town.
No, not our law enforcement sheriff. Our county sheriff and his deputies, by all accounts, are doing an outstanding job at fighting crime and keeping the peace. I’m talking about the new, recently appointed Weed Commissioner, Mr. John Eron.
I’ve had the pleasure of knowing John for a few years, visiting his farm several times and watching his innovative and groundbreaking land stewardship and conservation practices. He’s a leader in environmentally-friendly farming practices, ensuring clean water and healthy soils for future generations. He, along with other members of the Farmers of Mill Creek Watershed Council, is truly a steward of the land and water in the watershed. All that, and now weed control.
