Menzel (second in 100-backstroke in 1:06.89) each had season-best times.
"The strength of this team and the size (numbers) has enabled us to use each dual meet as another experiment,"
SPASH coach George Klingbail said.
The Panthers finished eighth at the Milwaukee Homestead Invitational Saturday, as SPASH recorded nine season-best
performances. Martin led the way with a seventh place finish in the 100-yard backstroke (1:01.95). She was also
a member of the seventh place 200-meter medley team with Menzel, Burant and Callie Wild (1:56.69). Another team,

Pacelli
Football: The Cardinals scored early and often Saturday in a 45-0 rout at Wausau Newman. Pacelli built
a 33-0 halftime lead and added two more scores in the final two quarters. Neil Jurgella was one of six different
Cardinals to find the end zone, as he returned a kickoff 85 yards to paydirt. Jeff Herzog, Ahern Cashin, Matt Kruzicki,
Greg Snow and Justin Anderson also scored TDs. The Pacelli defense held Newman to only 98 yards of total offense
while Pacelli racked up 408 total yards.
Soccer: Pacelli (14-6-1) had an easy time as it closed the regular season Saturday, dropping Mosinee
7-0 and Wausau Newman 6-1. Steve Baumhofer scored three goals against Mosinee and Nate Swenson, George McCorkell,
Ben Greuel and Vanessa Guillemette each found the back of the net. Against Newman, Baumhofer added two more goals
while Swenson, McCorkell and Lindsey Gagas scored single goals.
Girls volleyball: The Cardinals had a 4-6 record and finished fourth at the CWCC Tournament Saturday
in Chippewa Falls.
Pacelli found itself in a close contest against Marshfield Columbus last Thursday but won one of three games
against the Dons, 13-15, 9-15, 15-3. The Cardinals were tied with the visitors 13-13 in the first game and 9-9
in the second only to see Columbus come away with wins.
Almond-Bancroft
Football: Nick Sanchez had a monster game as the Eagles stayed alive in the WIAA postseason race last
Friday. A-B (3-3 in the CWC), which must win Thursday at Tigerton for a chance at a playoff berth, topped Port
Edwards 27-19 thanks to Sanchez's 228 yards on 31 carries.
Sanchez had first half touchdown runs of two and 62 yards and another from four yards out in the third quarter.
Matt Cummings hauled in a 5-yard Chris Leary touchdown pass to help the Eagles take a 21-7 halftime lead.
Girls volleyball: A-B's season came to an end Tuesday night at the hands of Wild Rose in the first round
of Division 4 WIAA Regional play. The Eagles (5-20) were swept by the home team 9-15, 6-15, 5-15.
"(In) game one we jumped out to a 4-0 lead right away and built an 8-3 lead. Then things slowly went bad
for us and Wild Rose was able to come back and win 9-15," A-B coach Roger Young said. "We lost our confidence
and it was a struggle the rest of the way."
Tabitha Sawyer led A-B with 6 service points and 8 assists. Stephanie Jenz and Sarah Berry each had 3 kills.
The Eagles faced Wild Rose and Rosholt at Wild Rose Saturday and dropped both matches to finish 3-13 in the
CWC. A-B won the first game, 15-8, over Wild Rose, but fell in the next two, 10-15, 10-15. Rosholt swept the Eagles
in three games, 9-15, 6-15, 3-15.
Amherst
Football: Amherst needs a win Thursday at Manawa to keep its playoff hopes alive following a 50-14 loss
at Weyauwega-Fremont Friday. The Falcons held a 14-6 advantage before the Indians scored 44 unanswered points with
the wishbone offense to win going away. Paul Konkol gained 247 yards on the ground on 25 carries and scored Amherst's
second TD of the day (49 yards). Dusty Stuczynski also found the end zone on a 59-yard touchdown pass from QB Nate
Peplinski. The Falcons' other points came from a Dustin Yenter safety.

the field in 14:49. Samantha Diver also finished fourth as the Falcons took fourth as a team with 93 points.
Girls volleyball: Amherst advanced to the second round of the Division 3 WIAA Regionals with a sweep
of Menominee Tuesday. The Falcons had an easy time in the first two games, winning 15-1, 15-5. They then topped
the visiting team 15-11 for the win.
"We played well except for a spell in game three when we got a little lazy with our play," Amherst
coach Gregg Jensen said.
Meghan Simkins had 18 kills for Amherst and Melissa Kayon added eight. Betsy Hoffman had 14 service points and
Simkins had 11 (four aces). Becca Konkol had 22 assists.
Rosholt
Football: The Hornets are one win away from clinching an automatic bid in the WIAA playoffs after a 32-21
win Friday over Plainfield Tri-County. Rosholt (4-2 in the CWC small division) could still get in even if the team
drops its final game of the season against Wild Rose.
Rosholt rebounded from a loss to Port Edwards a week earlier to top the Penguins. Roche Rossier put the Hornets
on the board in the second quarter with a 26-yard run and then quarterback Ryan Zdroik and Luke Lane connected
on two touchdown passes (22 and 15 yards) to give the Hornets a 18-15 third quarter lead. Jon Betker found the
end zone from three yards out in the third quarter and Zdroik closed out the scoring with a 33-yard TD run late
in the game.
Zdroik finished with 179 yards through the air on 9-16 passing and Lane grabbed six receptions for 146 yards.
Boys cross country: Rosholt finished fifth with 132 points at the CWC meet last Thursday. Pat Knutson
led his team with a 15th place finish, while Brady Staszak (22nd), Joel Skornia (25th), Rob Cherek (28th) and Rob
Moernik (42nd) also scored for the Hornets.
"We ran pretty strong even though we had two kids coming back from severe colds," Rosholt coach Mike
Trzebiatowski said. " With them healthy we probably could've beat one more team and gotten fourth.
"Everyone battled and we improved from three weeks ago when we struggled to field a whole team. I admire
their determination to not let up in the middle of the race."
Girls volleyball: The Hornet finished 9-5 in the CWC after sweeping Port Edwards last Thursday, 15-7,
15-2, 15-5. Jenna Escenbach had seven points and seven kills while Lana Dalton and Lyndsey Carter each dished out
six assists.
