SPASH tennis entrants finish 1-1 at state
Ann Howley and the doubles team of Lauren Hom and Meagan Palmer both finished with 1-1 records at the Wisconsin
Interscholastic Athletic Association State Tournament Friday, Oct. 15. Both SPASH entrants received first round
byes and Howley (No. 1 singles) beat Lindsay Imhoff of Madison East 6-2, 6-1 before falling to Rachel Diener of
Fond du Lac 6-0, 6-1 in the third round. The No. 1 team of Hom-Palmer won in straight sets over Racine Horlick's
Amy and Amanda Boyle 6-2, 6-1 and then were eliminated by Elissa Bashleben and Miriam Blom of Neenah 4-6, 4-6.
Howley finished with a 25-3 record in her senior season while Hom, a freshman, and Palmer, a sophomore, combined
for a 10-2 doubles mark. |
