Amherst CC soars to fifth title in six years
The number seven is often considered lucky, but the number five was in the cards in another conference championship
for the Amherst High School boys cross country team.
A five point differential between the first place Falcons and second place Bonduel was enough for the Falcons to
secure their fifth Central Wisconsin Conference title in six years. Amherst's first of five point scorers, Dan
Ehr, gave his team a fifth place finish.
"We didn't run our best but we won it," Amherst coach Rob Sparhawk said. "I think our depth is what
carried us through.
"We had seven guys in front of Bonduel's fifth guy. And at Iola-Scandinavia earlier in the year, they had
five in front of our second guy."
Jeremy Sherf (ninth) and Jordan Selbo (10th) cracked the top ten while Jonathan Bronk (16th) and Tim Olson (17th)
also scored. |
