The Week in Review
SPASH
Football: Marshfield ended SPASH's season Saturday, scoring 21 first half points to defeat the Panthers
21-16. The Tigers scored twice on their first three offensive plays before SPASH tried to rally in the WIAA Division
1 Level 3 game in Marshfield.
The Tigers got on the scoreboard on their second play from scrimmage. Fullback Mario Koran fumbled on the play,
but halfback Aaron Scheuer scooped it up and then went 70 yards for a touchdown to give Marshfield a 7-0 lead.
After a SPASH punt, Scheuer was off to the races on Marshfield's next play with a 51-yard rushing touchdown
and the Tigers suddenly held a 14-0 advantage.
The Panthers didn't lay down and die, though, and got within eight points when Tony Gischia returned an interception
17 yards to paydirt. Ryan Hoffman's extra point was blocked and SPASH trailed 13-6 with just under five minutes
left in the first quarter.
Cory Flisakowski got SPASH's offense going in the second quarter, when he completed a 14-play, 74-yard drive
with a seven-yard TD. Following a penalty on the two-point conversion try, Hoffman nailed the extra point to get
the Panthers within 14-13 with 10:33 remaining in the half.
The Tigers took an eight-point lead into the locker room when Scheuer found the end zone from two yards out
with only 26 seconds left in the second quarter.
Neither team got much going offensively in the second half and SPASH's offense sputtered in its final three
possessions.
For the game, Flisakowski ran for 141 yards on 29 carries. Quarterback Ross Adamczak was 4-for-20 passing for
41 yards.
Boys soccer: The third time was the charm for Wisconsin Rapids, who eliminated the Panthers from WIAA
postseason play last Thursday. SPASH had beaten the Red Raiders twice during the regular season, but this time
Rapids knocked out the Panthers, 3-2 in a shootout.
Cheng Yang and Chris Bale both scored for SPASH in regulation as the Panthers held a 2-1 lead until Adam Vanbeck
nailed a free kick for a goal with just under 24 minutes remaining in regulation.
After a scoreless overtime session, Steve Reinhardt and Yang converted their penalty kicks but Rapids responded
with four goals to take the WIAA sectional semifinal shootout 4-2.
Pacelli
Football: Pacelli will face Chippewa Falls McDonell in the WISAA Division 3 semifinals Friday at 7 p.m.,
at Goerke Field. The Cardinals advanced to the showdown, in which the winner advances to the state championship
game, by crushing Milwaukee University School 52-16 last Friday.
Pacelli had its way with the Wildcats all game and led 34-0 at halftime. The Cardinals led 52-0 after three
quarters and brought in its freshman team for much of the fourth quarter.
Ahern Cashin scored three times on touchdown runs (15, 41 and 7 yards) and Matt Kruzicki hauled in two TD passes
from Steve Wiczek (12 and 31 yards). Justin Anderson (2 yards), Jeff Herzog (5 yards) and Jason Brazzale (53 yards)
all had touchdown runs as well.
Boys cross country: Led by Franz Klein's 13th place finish, the Cardinals finished 10th Saturday at the

(111th in 21:28) completed Pacelli's first five while Abby Mallek (114th in 22:24) also ran.
Boys soccer: Pacelli came up on the short end of a back and forth battle with Waupun Christian last Thursday
in the WISAA Division sub-state showdown, 4-3.
Christian got things going early and found the back of the net six minutes into the game. However, Pacelli's
Nate Swenson tied the game at 1-1 moments later with a goal of his own. Waupun Christian scored again to take a
2-1 lead only to see Steve Baumhofer respond to knot the score at 2-2.
The two teams traded goals once more in the first half with Josh Schloesser tying it again, this time at 3-3.
Waupun Christian scored 20 minutes into the second half and the Cardinals were unable to rebound to tie the
game.
Amherst
Girls volleyball: The Falcons advanced to the WIAA Sectional Final but were swept by Oconto Saturday.
Amherst dropped three straight to the Blue Devils, 15-1, 15-7, 15-13 at Marathon.
"We got beat by a good team," Amherst coach Gregg Jensen said. "We were not at the top of our
game and a good team can really make you pay for your mistakes."
Meghan Simkins led the Falcons in kills with 10 and Melissa Kayon chipped in seven. Betsy Hoffman had six service
points and Becca Konkol had 12 assists.
"The girls had a very good season. They can be proud of the run they made," Jensen said.

Saturday, 28-6. The home team scored 21 points in Rosholt's fateful second quarter.
Florence fullback Josh Chiamulera caught two TDs in the quarter (28-and 71-yards) and the Bobcats blocked a

Rosholt had trouble with the Florence defense, gaining only 36 yards in the first half. In the third quarter
