Predictions win over speed at new Rendezvous race

There are not many races where the first finisher isn't the winner.
But that's exactly what happened at the first Up A Lazy River by the Old Mill Run Sunday. Runners in the Riverfront
Rendezvous race had to predict their time in the 5K run and the person with the closest guess won.
After all participants joined in an out-of-key rendition of the Louis Armstrong song that the race was named for,
they had to take off their watches.
Pete Kovach came the closest to his predicted time, finishing four seconds faster than his guess of 23:30 (23:26).
Pat Pavelski won the women's category, as she ran 15 seconds faster than her predicted time of 26:30 (26:15).
The first finisher of the race, Scott Gralla, completed the course in 19:53. However, he was 2:07 faster than his
predicted time of 22:00. |
