Elderon rolls in BABA action

An 11-run outburst in the second inning led Elderon to a 30-1 victory over Birnamwood Sunday in Northern Division play in the BABA Sunday.

Sixteen batters went to the plate and collected 12 hits in that outburst, which followed a five-run first inning for Elderon. Elderon had 33 hits, including 10 home runs, in the game.

Aaron Dobbe led Elderon by hitting for the cycle as he collected seven hits in seven at bats. He also scored seven runs and drove in seven. His seven hits included three home runs, two singles, a double and a triple.

Jay Zeinert had six hits for Elderon with a home run and a double, Troy Leikau had four hits including a home run, Stacy Groshke had four hits including a grand slam home run, Justin Meronek had two home runs and a double and James Bembenek had two home runs among his three hits.

Rick Boda was the winning pitcher, striking out 12 in the five innings he worked. Greg Lex took the loss for Birnamwood.

Mike Scheir led Birnamwood with two hits in four trips.

In other Northern Division action, Wittenberg beat Hatley, 11-8.
