UW-SP women's hoops upsets No. 2 ranked team

The Land of Magic Classic may have a double meaning for the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point women's basketball team.

The Pointers, who traveled to the Daytona Beach, Fla. tournament, worked their magic and upset the nation's No. 2 ranked team in NCAA Division 3 Monday night, topping Johns Hopkins University 62-44.

The win was the fifth straight for UW-SP (6-4 overall), who was led by sophomore Carry Boehning's 17 points and 15 rebounds. Fourteen of the Auburndale sophomore's boards came on the defensive end.

The Pointers opened up a 34-22 halftime lead and took advantage of a poor shooting effort by Johns Hopkins. The Bluejays made just 7-of-33 shots in each half (21 percent).

Senior guard Jessica Ott (New Glarus) and sophomore forward Amie Schultz (Appleton) each scored 15 points.
