Yenter grabs Pacelli wrestling post
Pacelli High School's top assistant wrestling coach Jay Yenter is getting a promotion.
Yenter, who was an assistant for 10 years after graduating from Pacelli in 1988, is taking over as head coach following
Greg Flees' resignation. Bob Raczek will continue serving as co-head coach.
"I have to say not much will change," Yenter said. "Greg and I built this program up and I can't
see changing a thing.
"The one thing that will change is that Greg and I were together either wrestling or coaching since 1978 so,
that'll be different. But I'm excited to take on this challenge and continue building what we've got."
As a Cardinal wrestler, Yenter finished third at the WISAA State Meet as a freshman before grabbing runner-up finishes
in each of the next three seasons. He then stepped into the top assistant spot when Flees took the head job. Together,
along with Raczek, they built the program into one of the most respected in the state at any level.
"I couldn't be happier that Jay has agreed to take this position," Pacelli Athletic Director Terry Owens
said. "The success that he's had a hand in over the past ten seasons speaks for itself. The program is strong
from Pacelli all the way down into grade schools. Jay will only enhance that strength." |
