Porter signs with Spurs

Former University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point star Terry Porter is joining the defending National Basketball Association Champion San Antonio Spurs.

Porter, who played with the Miami Heat last season, signed a three-year contract with the team. The 14-year veteran guard is searching for his first NBA title after reaching the finals twice with the Portland Trail Blazers.

Porter, who was a candidate for the NBA's Sixth Man of the Year Award last season, joins all-stars Tim Duncan and David Robinson in San Antonio.

This will be Porter's third team in three seasons. He left the Minnesota Timberwolves to sign with the Heat before the 1998-99 season.
