SPASH
Boys basketball: The Panthers (3-13,
2-10) lost to Wisconsin Rapids, 50-36, on Friday, Feb. 6. Kris Riggs led the team with 13 points. Ted Schlafke
added 10 points.
Girls basketball: SPASH (6-11, 6-7)
lost to Baraboo, 47-45, on Saturday, Feb. 7. Jessica Schlafke had 15 points to lead the girls.
The team lost to Wisconsin Rapids, 46-44, on Friday, Feb. 6. Allison Smaglik scored
22 points, as she was 9-of-12 from the field. Lincoln's Aubrey Wisen followed up a missed shot with 1.7 seconds
left, which proved to be the winning basket in the game.
Hockey: SPASH (15-4-1, 13-2-1) beat
Wausau East, 5-0, on Tuesday, Feb. 10. Ted Baier had a goal and two assists, and Travis Erstad and Michael Soik
each had a goal and an assist. Blake Porter and Scott Pavelski also scored for the Panthers.
The team beat D.C. Everest, 7-2, on Thursday, Feb. 5. Nate Alm scored two goals
and Jimmy Haluska added a goal and two assists. Baier, Pavelski, Tom DeWitt and Lucas Suchon also registered in
the scoring column, while Derek Schroth had three assists and Porter and Erstad each handed out a pair of assists.

Wrestling: The Panthers finished
sixth at the Wisconsin Valley Conference meet on Saturday, Feb. 7. Kyle Roth won the individual title at 103,
while Tim Petersen (140) and Matt Wanta (Hwt) each finished second. Wisconsin Rapids won the team title for the
11th straight year, with 189.5 points.
The team beat Merrill, 36-33, on Thursday, Feb. 5. SPASH trailed 33-30 heading
into the final match of the night, but Jason Wroblewski pinned Luke Rose at 145 to give the Panthers the win. Wanta,
Roth and Aaron Nelson (112) won by pin, while Brandon Raikowski (119) and Derek Onstad (125) won by decision.
Pacelli
Boys basketball:
The Cardinals (6-10, 4-8) lost to Rosholt, 74-54, on Tuesday, Feb. 10. Jake Owens scored 22 points, and moved into
second place on Pacelli's all-time scoring list. Owens, who now has 1,183 career points, passed Jeff Zavada, who
totaled 1,182 points from 1986-89. Jeff Sadlemyer chipped in with 16 points.
Girls basketball: Pacelli beat Rosholt,
56-34, on Tuesday, Feb. 10. Kaitlyn Lane scored 20 points and Stephanie Fischer added 16. The Cards led 26-14 at
halftime, and pulled away by out-scoring the Hornets 22-6 in the third quarter.
Wrestling: The Cardinals finished
ninth at the Central Wisconsin Conference meet with 83.5 points, on Saturday, Feb. 7. Jamie Klein was the top finisher
for the team, as he took home the title at 130 pounds. Weyauwega-Fremont won the team title with 226 points.
The team beat Wild Rose, 36-30, on Thursday, Feb. 5. Klein won by pin, and T.J.
Hayes (103), Nick Retzki (112), Ben Klosinski (215) and Manuel Arguello (Hwt) won by forfeit. Brian Napiwocki (140)
and Nate Wachowiak (189) won by decision.
Amherst
Boys basketball:
The Falcons (12-5, 8-5) beat Bonduel, 76-61, on Tuesday, Feb. 10. Chris Page poured in 32 points, as Amherst erased
a 30-24 halftime time deficit by out-scoring Bonduel 23-8 in the third quarter. James Stokes had 15 points, Spencer
Selbo added 14 and Jeremiah Osborn chipped in with 12. The team has won eight of its last nine games.
The team beat Manawa, 62-52, on Friday, Feb. 6. Page paved the way with 26 points,
and Stokes chipped in with 12.
Girls basketball: Amherst (10-8,
8-6) lost to Bonduel, 46-41, on Tuesday, Feb. 10. Margo Borgen scored 17 points to lead all scorers. The Falcons
were out-scored 11-4 in the decisive fourth quarter.
The girls handled Manwa, 72-31, on Friday, Feb. 6. Teresa Green and Kelly Stolpa
each scored 14 points to lead the charge. Jessica Doll had 10 rebounds and seven assists, while Helen Osborn had
11 points and Borgen contributed 10 points.
Wrestling: Amherst finished seventh
at the Central Wisconsin Conference meet with 85 points, on Saturday, Feb. 7. Mo Malone won the title at 112, while
Bert Soyka finished second at 152 after dropping out of the finals due to injury. Weyauwega-Fremont won the team
title with 226 points.
Rosholt
Boys basketball:
The Hornets (14-2, 10-2) beat Pacelli, 74-54, on Tuesday, Feb. 10. Adam Macht scored 28 points and Rosholt outscored
the Cardinals 44-27 in the second half to pull away. Matt Zdroik scored 24 and Travis Richter added 16, as the
trio of Macht, Zdroik and Richter accounted for 68 of the team's 74 points.\
The team beat Tri-County, 60-53, on Friday, Feb. 6. Zdroik powered the attack with
25 points. Macht chipped in with 12 points and Travis Richter had nine.
Girls basketball: Rosholt (11-7,
8-6) lost to Pacelli, 56-34, on Tuesday, Feb. 10. Jamie Scott and Sara Omernik each had six points to lead the
team in scoring.
The team beat Tri-County, 45-27, on Friday, Feb. 6. Brittany Yenter had 11 points
to pace the team. Scott and Megan O'Neil each chipped in with six points.
Wrestling: The Hornets finished
sixth at the Central Wisconsin Conference meet with 92.5 points, on Saturday, Feb. 7. Devin Groshek won the title
at 160 pounds, while Donny Carter (160) and Dean Zakrzewski (Hwt) each finished second. Dustin Groshek (145) placed
fourth, Matt Zander (152) was fifth and Jaredt Simonis (103) and Brian Faskell (130) each placed sixth. Weyauwega-Fremont
won the team title with 226 points.
Almond-Bancroft
Boys basketball:
The Eagles (12-4, 11-3) lost to Iola-Scandinavia, 41-39, on Tuesday, Feb. 10. Randy Berry and Ben Dill each scored
eight points to lead the team. Iola's Luke Gunderson tipped in a missed shot with three seconds left to provide
the final margin. Almond led 24-12 at halftime, but were ultimately done in by making only 5-of-22 shots from the
free throw line.
The team beat Tigerton, 72-51, on Friday, Feb. 6. Berry had 18 points and five
assists in the win. Greg Otto and Austin Lamb added 14 points apiece.
Girls basketball: Almond (9-7, 9-4)
lost to Iola-Scandinavia, 47-28, on Tuesday, Feb. 10. Mallory Beigle led the team with six points.
Wrestling: The Tri-County/ Almond-Bancroft
team finished seventh at the Central Wisconsin Conference meet with 85 points, on Saturday, Feb. 7. Oscar Segundo
won the individual title at 103 pounds. Weyauwega-Fremont won the team title with 226 points.
