SPASH

Boys basketball: The Panthers lost, 50-41, to Merrill on Friday, Feb. 15. Ted Schlafke scored 17 points and Ryan Taggatz added 10.

Girls basketball: The SPASH girls defeated Neenah, 59-46, in the first round of the WIAA Division 1 playoffs on Tuesday, Feb. 19. Kara Kujawa led the squad with 16 points.

The team lost to Merrill, 40-31, on Friday, Feb. 15. Kujawa scored 14 in the loss.

Gymnastics: The team won the Wisconsin Valley Conference Meet on Saturday, Feb. 16. See story page 16.

Hockey: The Panthers won an easy game, 9-2, versus Fond du Lac in the WIAA sectional semifinal on Tuesday, Feb. 19. Joe Pavelski notched another hat trick. Ben Roth, Tom DeWitt, Nate Alm (two goals), Jimmy Haluska and Brian Soik all scored in the blowout.

The team defeated Appleton United in a regional matchup on Thursday, Feb. 14. Haluska recorded a hat trick in the win with Ted Baier and Pavelski also scoring.

Wrestling: Four Panther grapplers advanced to the WIAA State Individual Tournament by qualifying at the WIAA Division l Sectional on Saturday, Feb. 16. See story page 16.

Boys swimming: The team finished 21st at the WIAA State meet on Saturday, Feb. 16. Jacob Nantell was the top individual finisher for SPASH, taking 10th place in the 50-meter freestyle in 22.29, a team-record time.

The 400-meter freestyle relay team of Ted Conachen, Andy Menzel, Nantel and Jon Ronzani also set a school record in 3:21.10, good for a 10th-place finish.

The 200-meter freestyle relay team of Menzel, Nantell, Geoff Thill and Josh Siebert took 12th in 1:31.14, also a school record.

PACELLI

Boys basketball: The Cardinals lost, 67-44, to Weyauwega-Fremont on Thursday, Feb. 14. Derrick Lepak and Jake Owens both scored 13.

Girls basketball: The team defeated Port Edwards, 54-39, in the WIAA Division 4 playoffs on Tuesday, Feb. 19. Stephanie Fischer scored 14 points to lead the team.

The team lost to Weyauwega-Fremont, 41-29, on Friday, Feb. 15. Emily Radomski scored 20 in the loss.

AMHERST

Boys basketball: The Falcons lost, 72-55, to Shiocton on Friday, Feb. 15. Travis Bassett led the squad with 20 points and Scott Nykl scored 10.

Girls basketball: The Amherst girls beat Shiocton, 53-41, on Tuesday, Feb. 19, in the first round of the WIAA Division 3 playoffs. Jamie Krutza led the Falcons with 16 points, while JoAnn Konkol added 12 and Lyndsey Allen scored 10.

The team crushed Shiocton, 72-37, on Friday, Feb. 15. Krutza scored a game-high 31 points.

ROSHOLT

Boys basketball: The Hornets defeated Manawa, 72-62, on Monday, Feb. 18. Cole Firkus and James Kosmalski both scored 16 points, Dane Zdroik added 14, Mat Zdroik scored 11 and Brad Zrdoik chipped in with 10.

The team lost, 61-56, to Almond-Bancroft on Friday, Feb. 15. Matt Zdroik scored 22 in the loss.

Girls basketball: The Rosholt Girls defeated Menominee Indian, 55-26, in the first round of the WIAA Division 3 playoffs on Tuesday, Feb. 19. Tami Scott led the team with 12 points. Aubrey Rice added 10.

The team won the Central Wisconsin Small School Conference title by beating Almond-Bancroft, 38-27, on Friday, Feb. 15. The team finished with a 15-1 conference record (19-1 overall).

ALMOND-BANCROFT

Boys basketball: The Eagles beat Rosholt, 61-56, on Friday, Feb. 15. Zach Mykisen led the team with 19 points.

Girls basketball: The Almond-Bancroft girls defeated Northern Lutheran in the first round of the WIAA Division 4 playoffs on Tuesday, Feb. 12. Darlene Turzinski scored 18 points and Christyn Johnson added 14.
