Stoskopf back as hockey coach

Former Stevens Point Area Senior High School hockey coach Jack Stoskopf will be back coaching the team this year after a year off. Stoskopf will replace Bill Wright, who resigned in July.

Stoskopf previously coached the team from 1986-2000. While he was coach the Panthers won six Valley Conference Championships, had 11 trips to the WIAA State Tournament (including three second-place finishes) and 11 Sectional Championships. He compiled an overall record of 251-73-9 as the teams head coach.

In addition to success on the ice, Stoskopf's teams have had academic success as well, with a team grade point average of more than 3.0 for the past nine years.

He spent last hockey season working with players in Portage County Youth on Ice.

In addition to his experience at SPASH, Stoskopf was a Portage County Youth Hockey Coach from 1984-1985, an assistant hockey coach at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point from 1983-1984 and head hockey coach at Pacelli High School from 1981-1983.

He has been employed as an elementary school teacher, grades five and six, in the Stevens Point Area Public School District since 1986.
