SPASH

Football: The Panthers (3-1 in the Wisconsin Valley Conference, 4-1 overall) demolished Antigo, 36-0, on Friday, Sept. 21.

Nate Olson scored on a pair of touchdown passes from Jake Jahnke. Jahnke, who struggled passing, going 4-11, also rushed for a touchdown. Junior running back Justin Pezewski, who rushed 13 times for 73 yards, scored on a pair of runs. Pezewski took over for senior Eric Napiwocki who left the game with a leg injury. Casey Kedrowski kicked a 37-yard field goal.

Girls Tennis: The Panthers improved to 8-0 in the WVC by demolishing Wausau West, 7-0, on Tuesday, Sept. 25. The team won all but one of the games in straight sets, with only Tracy Rozner at No. 4 singles needing to go to three sets. After losing the first set 4-6, she went on to win the next two, 6-3, 6-2.
The team defeated Wausau East, 4-3, on Friday, Sept. 21, in a match that began on Sept. 6, but was suspended because of weather conditions.

Lauren Hom won at No. 1 singles as did Lindsey Arnold at No. 3. The No. 1 doubles team of Jill Saddison and Alexis Edberg and the No. 2 team of Jackie Baier and Jenna Weinbauer won as well.

The Panthers defeated D.C. Everest, 6-1, in a Wisconsin Valley Conference dual match on Thursday, Sept. 20.

Hom, Meagan Palmer and Arnold (SPASH's No.1-No. 3 singles players) all won in straight sets as did all three doubles teams.

Boys Soccer: SPASH defeated Rhinelander, 4-1, in a WVC game on Tuesday, Sept. 24. Jay Nygaard, Dan Schmeekle (2) and Chris Doede all scored for the Panthers.

The Panthers fell, 6-0, to Appleton North in a nonconference game on Saturday, Sept. 22.

The team defeated Antigo, 9-1, on Thursday, Sept. 20. Eric Buda (2), Dan Schmeeckle (3), Nick Bonifas (2), Ling Vang and Tunde Olatunji all scored.

Volleyball: The Panthers (6-2 in the WVC, 16-9-7 overall) scored a comeback victory over Wisconsin Rapids on Tuesday, Sept. 25. Megan Wehrwein had 45 kill assists and seven aces. Ashley Konopacki had 23 kills and Mindy Slattery added 22.

The team finished second at the Baraboo Invitational by going 9-1 in round-robin play to tie with eventual champion Reedsburg. Reedsburg won by defeating SPASH in a playoff.

SPASH took out Merrill on Thursday, Sept. 20. Wehrwein led the team with 23 assists, Megan Sandman had seven kills and Kelly Korbisch added six kills.

Cross Country: The Panther girls took second place at the Manitowoc Invitational on Saturday, Sept.21, and the boys finished third despite being without top runner Chris Solinsky who was competing in the Great American Cross Country Festival in Charlotte, N.C.

Quinn Baumberger finished fifth to lead the boys, while twin sisters Emma (seventh) and Kara Tauchman (eighth) led the girls.

Girls Swimming: The team defeated D.C. Everest in a WVC dual meet on Thursday, Sept. 20. Lynsey Martin won both the 200- (2:15.66) and 500-meter freestyle (6:01.3). Sharisa Hillstead also won a pair of events, the 200 individual medley (2:27.37) and the 100 breaststroke (1:13.15).

Jesse Thompson took first in the 100 backstroke (1:05.99), while Hillary Loomis won the 100 butterfly (1:10.56).

The 200 medley team of Thompson, Hillstead, Loomis and Callie Wild took first as well (2:01.63) as did the 200 freestyle team of Megan Golla, Hillstead, Wild and Liz Herder.

PACELLI

Football: The Cardinals defeated Weyauwega-Fremont, 32-22, on Friday, Sept. 21. See story page 12.

Volleyball: Pacelli (9-0 in the CWC large) defeated Marion in a conference match on Tuesday, Sept. 25. Emily Radomski led the team with 10 kills, while Toni Johnson chipped in with 25 assists.

The team defeated Weyauwega-Fremont and Shiocton at the Shicoton Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 22.

Vickie Mallek led the team with 15 kills and Johnson had 11 aces.

Pacelli beat Wittenberg-Birnamwood on Thursday, Sept. 20. Radomski and Mallek had 10 kills each while Becky Fisher added seven kills and Sara Klasinski had six.

Cross Country: The Cardinals hosted the Pacelli Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 21. The top finisher for the boys was Jamie Klein in 16th. Angela Peters finished in eighth to pace the girls.

Girls Tennis: Pacelli defeated Marshfield Columbus, 5-2, on Monday, Sept. 24. Mandy Clifford and Erin McCann won at No. 2 doubles as did the No. 3 team of Nikki Houck and Amanda Tepp.

Ashley Jurgella and Denise Lukaszewski won at No. 2 and No. 3 singles.

AMHERST

Football: The Falcons defeated Marion, 27-12, in a CWC large school battle on Friday, Sept. 21.

Derek Konkol led the team, rushing for 214 yards, including a pair of touchdowns. Falcons' quarterback Matt Mehne threw a pair of touchdown passes, one to Kris Blenker and one to Nolan Kayon.

Cross Country: Both the boys and girls took third place at the Pacelli Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 21.

Tim Olson was the top finisher for the boys, taking third place in 17:50. Brittany Dick took third in the girls race in 16:27.

Volleyball: The Falcons improved their CWC large school record to 5-4 (13-8-3 overall) with a victory over Bonduel on Tuesday, Sept. 25. Molly Simpkins led the team with 19 kills and Suzy Helbach added six.

The Falcons won a pair of matches (against Manawa and Marion) at the Marion Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 22.

ROSHOLT

Football: The Hornets (4-0 in the CWC small, 5-0 overall) smashed Tri-County, 49-0, in a Central Wisconsin Conference small school game on Friday, Sept. 21. Rosholt dominated in all aspects of the game.

Randy Printz scored five times for the Hornets, twice on passes from quarterback Brad Zdroik, twice running the ball and once on an interception return.

Cross Country: The girls took first at the Pacelli Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 22., while the boys came in second.

Tami Scott won the girls race in 15:07, while teammates Lindsey Peplinski finished fifth, Jacki Yenter eighth and Jackie Zdroik 10th.

Bradley Stazak was the top finisher for the boys, taking second place in 17:43.

Volleyball: Rosholt (6-1 in the CWC small, 14-1-1 overall) defeated Port Edwards, 3-0, on Tuesday, Sept. 25. Katie Kosobucki had 20 assists, while Emily Steines added seven service points and five kills. Allie Larson had nine service points and nine kills.

The Hornets had a mixed night on Thursday, Sept. 20, losing to Tigerton and defeating Tri-County. Allie Larson led the team with 17 kills.

ALMOND-BANCROFT

Football: The Eagles (2-3 in the CWC small and overall) joined the weekend blowout brigade among area football teams by crushing Menominee Indian, 47-0, on Friday, Sept. 21.

Jacob Warznski had a big night, rushing for 187 yards and two touchdowns. Jason Sanchez joined in with 66 yards and a touchdown.

Volleyball: The Eagles (1-7 in the CWC small) won their first conference match of the season against Port Edwards on Monday, Sept. 24. Jade Gutke finished the match with six kills and six service points and Darlene Tutzinski added 11 kills and six digs.

Almond Bancroft lost a pair of games, to Iola-Scandinavia and Gresham, at the Iola-Scandinavia Triangular on Thursday, Sept. 20., Jade Gutke led the team with 13 kills and Darlene Tutzinski added nine.
