SPASH
Football: The Panthers won a close game, 9-7, against Wausau West on Saturday, Sept. 15. The win brings
the team's Wisconsin Valley Conference record to 2-1, and to 3-1 overall.
The Panthers' lone touchdown came on a Jake Jahnke 1-yard run, after he hit Nate Olson on fourth-and-nine play
to earn the team a first down at the Wausau West 1-yard line (the extra point attempt was unsuccessful.
The other score came on a 27-yard field goal from Casey Kedrowski as the Panthers jumped out to a quick 9-0
lead..
Volleyball: The team went 2-2 at the first leg of the Wisconsin Valley Conference Tournament at the Wisconsin
Rapids Lincoln Fieldhouse on Saturday, Sept. 15
Girls Swimming: The Panthers dunked Wausau West, 113-57, in a dual meet on Thursday, Sept. 13.
A number of Panther swimmers took first in their events including Lynsey Martin in the 200 (2:17.23) and 500
(5:59.98) freestyle events; Sharisa Hillstead, 200 individual medley relay (2:26.51) and 100 breaststroke (1:13.41);
Liz Herder, 50 freestyle (:26.40); Hillary Loomis, 100 butterfly (1:09.66); Callie Wild, Herder and Hillstead won
the 200 freestyle relay (1:49.24); and Wild Hillstead, Jesse Thompson and Megan Golla won the 200 medley relay
(2:01.56).
Soccer: The team (4-5 overall) took fourth place at the Verona Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 15.
The Panther boys shut out Merril, 2-0, on Thursday, Sept. 13. Thanks to quality team defense, SPASH keeper Matt
Bourbonnais only had to make one save during the game. Nick Bonifas and Dan Schmeeckle scored goals for the Panthers.
Cross County: The SPASH boys team took first place at the Smiley Invitational at Wausau on Saturday,
Sept. 15, while the girls team came in third.
Chris Solinsky won the boys race in 15:36, 43, while freshman Emma Tauchman was the girls top finisher in 15:45,
taking fourth place.
All five boys runners finished in the top 50.
Kara Tauchman (12rd), Zoe Browne (23rd), Becky Sikorski (39th) and Kim Klosno (40th) scored for the girls team.
Girls Tennis: The Panthers defeated Marshfield, 5-2, in a dual meet on Tuesday, Sept. 18. Lauren Hom,
the No. 1 singles player, and Lindsey Arnold, the No. 3 singles player, won their matches as did the No. 1 (Alexis
Edberg and Jill Saddison), No. 2 (Jackie Baier and Jenna Weinbauer) and No. 3 (Maria Davis and Kim Effinger) doubles
teams.
The team took first place at the Beaver Dam Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 15. Hom, Megan Palmer and Arnold,
the No. 1 - No. 3 single players, each won their matches, as did the No. 1 doubles team of Edberg and Saddison.
The SPASH team took sole possession of first place in the Wisconsin Valley Conference by defeating Wisconsin
Rapids, 5-2, on Thursday, Sept. 13.
Hom, Palmer and Arnold each won their matches, as did the No. 1 doubles team of Edberg and Saddison and the
No. 2 doubles team of Baier and Weinbauer.
PACELLI
Football: The Cardinals continued their impressive season with a 31-0 pounding of Bonduel on Friday,
Sept. 14. The blasting was the team's third-straight shutout.
The Cardinals played well on both sides of the ball. They held Bonduel to 89 yards on offense and cranked out
424-offensive yards themselves, including 275 on the ground.
Ahren Cashin led the team with 169 yards while Jeff Herzog chipped in with 98 yards, including a touchdown.
Cardinals' quarterback Brad Heeg threw three touchdowns - (two to Nate Domaszek (1- and 39 yards) and one to
Jake Owens (24 yards) and ran for another (9 yards).
Volleyball: The Cardinals improved to 5-0 in the Central Wisconsin large school
division by beating Amherst, 3-0, on Tuesday, Sept. 18.Vicky Mallek led the team with 15 kills. Setter Toni Johnson
had 20 assists.
The team defeated Bonduel, 2-1, on Thursday, Sept. 13.
Emily Radomski led the team with 14 kills and two aces, while Becky Fisher added three aces, eight digs and
four kills. Setter Toni Johnson had a good night as well with 30 assists, 14 digs and two kills.
Girls Tennis: The team lost, 6-1. To Fox Valley Lutheran on Tuesday, Sept. 18.
Jennifer Mitchell, at No. 3 singles, was the sole match winner for the Cardinals
ROSHOLT
Football: The Hornets remained unbeaten, stinging Almond-Bancroft, 14-6, on Friday, Sept. 14. The defense
held A-B to only 63 rushing yards.
Rosholt quarterback Brad Zdroik had an uneven night, completing 6-15 passes, but was involved in both Hornet
touchdowns.
On one he dove into the end zone from one-yard out and on the other hit James Kosmalski with a 23-yard touchdown
pass.
Volleyball: The Hornets beat Iola-Scandanavia, 2-1, on Tuesday, Sept. 18. It was the team's last meeting
with Iola-Scandanavia as the Hornets will be moving up to the CWC large school division next season.
Allie Larson had sevens kills and seven service points in the victory. Amber Groshek also had seven service
points and Kattie Kosobucki led the team with 14 assists.
Rosholt is now 4-0 in the CWC small and 12-0-1 overall.
Cross Country: Behind another great performance by Tami Scott, the Rosholt girls took first place in
Division 3 at the Smiley Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 15.
Scott ran the race in a time of 15:01, first among all female contestants.
Brady Staszak was the top finisher for the boys in sixth place.
AMHERST
Football: The team lost, 27-21, to Wittenberg-Birnamwood on Friday, Sept. 14. See story page 12.
Volleyball: The Falcons were overpowered, 3-0, by Pacelli on Tuesday, Sept. 18. The team is 2-4 in the
CWC large school division and 8-8-3 overall.
The team lost, 2-1, at Weyauwega-Fremont on Thursday, Sept. 13.
Cross Country: The Amherst girls took fourth place at the Smiley Invitational in Wausau on Saturday,
Sept. 15.
Tim Olson was the top boys finisher in fourth place with teammate Jordan Selbo finishing seventh.
ALMOND-BANCROFT
Football: A-B lost, 14-6, to Rosholt on Friday, Sept. 14. The Eagles fell to 1-3 in the CWC small school
division with the loss. Turnovers in key situations cost the team a chance to come back.
Volleyball: The team dropped to 0-5 in the CWC small school division and 1-10 overall after losing, 3-0,
to Tigerton on Tuesday, Sept. 18.
Jade Gutke led the team with four attack kills, four block kills, seven service points and four aces.
The Eagles lost, 3-0, to Tri-County on Thursday, Sept. 13.
Andrea Beggs provided a bright spot with seven service points and three assists. Jade Gutke added three kills
and three assists and Heather Buckenberger had five kills.
