SPASH

Football: The Panthers (4-2 overall, 3-2 in the Wisconsin Valley Conference) lost a shhout, 35-21, to WVC opponent Marshfield on Friday, Sept. 28. The team had no answer for Marshfield quarterback Ben King, who threw for 232 yards and four touchdowns on the night.

SPASH quarterback Jake Jahnke had a solid night as well, throwing for 242 yards, including a pair of touchdown passes to wide receiver Nate Olson. Olson finished the night with 132 yards receiving while fellow receiver Kris Fasching chipped in with 73 yards.

The Panthers other score came on a touchdown run by Eric Napiwocki.
Volleyball: The SPASH team took fifth place at the Neenah Inviatational on Saturday, Sept. 29. Megan Wehrwein led the team with 109 kills, 37 points and 10 aces.

The Panthers earned a share of second place in the WCV by defeating Marshfield Thursday, Sept. 27. Mindy Slattery led the way with nine kills, while Sam Polito had five spike kills and four aces. Ashley Konopacki chipped in with five kills and five blocks. Wehrwien had 26 assists.

Girls Tennis: The Panthers finished first at the WIAA Division 1 sub-sectional on Tuesday, Oct. 2. All four of the teams singles players (No 1., Lauren Hom; No. 2, Megan Palmer; No. 3, Lindsey Arnold; and No. 4, Tracy Rozak) and all three of the doubles teams (No. 1, Alexis Edberg and Jill Saddison; No. 2, Jackie Biaer and Jenna Weinbauer; and No. 3 Maria Davis and Kim Effinger) advanced to the sectional for the first time in school history. The team was scheduled to travel to the Oshkosh West sectional on Thursday, Oct. 4.

Boys Soccer: The team went 0-1-2 (6-8-3 overall) at the Wisconsin Rapids Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 29. The Panthers tied against Green Bay East, 2-2, and Sauk Prarie, 2-2, and lost to Reedsburg, 1-0.

The Panthers lost (4-2-1 in the WVC), 2-1, to Wausau West on Thursday, Sept. 27. Tunde Olatunji scored on a penalty kick to prevent a shutout.

Cross Country: The boys team finished in first at the Fondy Relays on Friday, Sept. 28. Chris Solinsky won the race (15:11), breaking the course record by 47 seconds in the process. Quin Bamberger came in fifth at 16:40 and Luke Langhorst took eighth in 16:55.

The JV boys took third in the Rosholt Invitational on Thursday, Sept. 27, while the JV girls finished second.

Swimming: The Panthers dunked Marshfield, 130-30, on Thursday, Sept. 27. Liz Herder won the 200 IM and 100 backstroke and Sharissa Hillstead won the 100 and 200 freestyle events.

Jesse Thompson won the 50 freestyle, Callie Wild the 500 freestyle and Natalie Olson the 100 breaststroke.

SPASH also swept the relay events.

PACELLI

Football: Pacelli (6-0 overall, 4-0 in the Central Wisconsin large schools division) defeated Manawa, 31-6, at Camp Randall Stadium on Friday, Sept. 28.

Pacelli wide receiver/safety Jake Owens, who has a huge impact on offense the lask few weeks, came up with a big defensive effort, returning a fumble for a touchdown and snagging a pair of interceptions.

Cornerback Jeff Herzog turned another Manawa mistake into points, returning an interception for a touchdown.

Running back Ahren Cashin rushed for the teams other two touchdowns. Kicker Alex Riordan chipped in with a 35-yard field goal.

Girls Tennis: The Cardinal's No. 2 tennis player, Ashley Jurgella, will advance to sectionals after winning two matches at the Durand sub-sectional on Monday, Oct. 1.

Th team dropped its season finale, 5-2, to Wisconsin Rapids Assumption, Thursday, Sept. 27. Jurgella and Valerie Glodowski collected wins at No. 2 and No. 4 singles for Pacelli.

Volleyball: The Cardinals improved to 11-0 in conference play with a pair of victories, against Manawa and Menominee Indian, on Thursday, Sept. 27. Toni Johnson led the team with 31 assists. Emily Radomski and Sara Klasinski had 12 kills each, while Vicky Mallek added eight kills.

AMHERST

Football: The Falcons (2-2 in the CWC large, 3-3 overall) pounded CWC opponent Shiocton, 51-14, on Friday, Sept. 28.

Running back Derek Konkol led the way for Amherst with an incredible 325 yards rushing and six touchdowns.

Kris Blenker added another 111 yards rushing, including a 17-yard touchdown.

Cross Country: The Amherst boys took first place at the Rosholt Invitational on Thursday, Sept. 27. Tim Olson took first in 17:18 while teammate Jordan Selbo finished second in 17:20.

Brittany Dick was the top girls finisher for the Hornets, taking third place in 15:33. The girls team finished ninth.

ALMOND-BANCROFT

Football: The Eagles were blown out 57-7 by Pecatonica-Argyle in a nonconferance game on Saturday, Sept. 29. A-B's lone touchdown came on an 82-yard touchdown pass from Joel Erickson to Dave Johnson.

Volleyball: The Eagles dropped three games to Bowler, Thursday, Sept. 27, 6-15, 5-15 and 10-15. The Eagles took a 3-0 lead in the third game before the Panthers went in front 10-5. The Eagles came back to tie it at 10-10 behind the serves of Christyn Johnson but then Bowler pulled away to win, 15-10.

Leading performers on the night were Johnson with nine service points, four aces, two attack kills and eight digs; Courtney Newby with four service points, four assists, and seven digs; and Heather Wittig with three attack kills.

ROSHOLT

Football: The Hornets defeated Wild Rose, 40-0, see story page 18.

Volleyball: The team defeated Gresham, 2-1, on Thursday, Sept. 27. Emily Steines had 15 service points and four aces for the Hornets. Katie Kosobucki added six service points and 17 assists while Allie Larson added five kills. Stephanie Wierzba had four kills.

Cross Country: Tami Scott continued her impressive season by breaking the course record while winning the Rosholt Invitational on Thursday, Sept. 27. Scott's time of 14:38 beat the old record by 30 seconds. Her win led the Hornets to a team victory at the event. Lindsey Peplinski finished in ninth.

Brady Staszak was the top boys finisher, taking third place in 17:24. The boys team finished fourth.
