The Week in Review
SPASH
Cross Country: The
boys and the girls each won the title in the WIAA Division 1 sectional at De Pere Saturday, Oct. 20.
Chris Solinsky led the Panther boys with his second straight victory in the boys
race. Quinn Baumberger was fifth, Mickey Katz, ninth; Luke Langhorst, 11th; Tom Winkelman, 17th for the Panthers,
who scored 43 points.
Emma Tauchman led the girls with a third-place finish and her sister Kara was fourth.
They were followed by Zoe Browne, 18th; Kim Klosno, 19th; and Jackie Kropp, 21st.
Football: The Panthers closed out their
season on Thursday, Oct. 18, losing to Wausau East, 29-13. SPASH finished the season with a 4-5 record overall
and 3-5 in the Wisconsin Valley Conference. The Panthers touchdowns came on a 19-yard run by Jerrod Fahrner and
a one-yard run by Eric Napiwocki.
Boys Soccer: The Panthers' season came
to an end when they lost to Neenah, 3-2, in the WIAA Regional at Neenah Thursday, Oct. 18. SPASH ended the season
with a 7-11-4 record.
Volleyball: The Panthers lost to Neenah
in three games at the WIAA regionals in Neenah Friday, Oct. 19, by scores of 6-16, 12-15 and 8-15. SPASH ended
the season with a 26-15-9 record.
Tennis: SPASH
lost to Eau Claire Memorial, 4-3, in the semifinals of the WIAA State Team Tournament at Madison Saturday, Oct.
20. The Panthers got victories from Lauren Hom at No. 1, Lindsey Arnold at No. 3 and Jackie Baier and Jenna Weinbauer
at No. 2 doubles.
On Friday the Panthers defeated Green Bay Southwest, 4-3, behind victories by Megan
Palmer at No. 2, Arnold at No. 3, Alexis Edberg and Jill Saddison at No. 1 doubles and Baier and Weinbauer at No.
2 doubles.
PACELLI
Football: The
Cardinals advanced to the second round of the Division 6 playoffs, handing Almond-Bancroft a 28-6 defeat at Goerke
Park on Tuesday, Oct. 23.
The Cardinals earned a share of the Central Wisconsin Conference large division
championship, defeating Marion, 41-0, Thursday, Oct. 18. The Cardinals and Wittenberg-Birnamwood each had 6-1 conference
records, with the Chargers handing Pacelli its lone loss of the season.
Volleyball: The Cardinals season came
to an abrupt end Friday, Oct. 19, as Wisconsin Rapids Assumption defeated them in a WIAA Division 4 Regional at
Pacelli, 15-10, 15-13 and 15-2.
Cross Country: The girls finished 10th
in the WIAA Sectionals at Rosholt. See story on page 16.
AMHERST
Football: The
Falcons lost a defensive struggle to Florence, 8-3, in the first round of the Division 5 playoffs Tuesday, Oct.
23.
The Falcons had advanced to the playoffs with a 31-20 victory over Weyauwega-Fremont,
on Thursday, Oct. 18. The win gave Amherst a 4-3 mark in the CWC large division and a 5-4 record overall.
Volleyball: The Falcons ended their
season in the finals of the regionals Saturday, Oct. 20, as Rosholt defeated them 15-0, 15-6 and 15-0.
The Falcons had advanced by defeating Shiocton, 15-5, 15-8, 4-15 and 15-13, on
Friday, Oct. 19.
Cross Country: The girls finished second
and the boys third at WIAA sectionals in Rosholt Saturday, Oct. 20. See story, page 16.
ROSHOLT
Football: The
Hornets perfect season came to an end Tuesday, Oct. 23, as they lost to Auburndale, 42-7, at Auburndale.
The Hornets won the CWC small division and ran their record to 9-0 Thursday, Oct.
18, by edging Tigerton, 15-14, on a touchdown pass from Brad Zdroik to Adam Macht with 20 seconds left in the game
and then adding the two-point conversion. On the conversion Randy Printz took a pitch on an option play into the
endzone.
Volleyball: The Hornets advanced to
the sectionals by defeating Amherst on Saturday, Oct. 20, 15-0, 15-6 and 15-0, in the regional finals in Amherst.
The night before the Hornets ousted Iola-Scandinavia in Rosholt, 12-15, 15-13,
15-2 and 15-7.

ALMOND-BANCROFT
Football: The
Eagles ran into Pacelli in the first round of the WIAA playoffs on Tuesday, Oct. 23, and lost, 28-6, at Goerke
Park.
The Eagles had earned a berth in the state playoffs with a 58-20 victory over Bowler
on Thursday, Oct. 18. The victory improved their record to 5-3 in the CWC small division and 5-4 overall.
