Week in Review SPASH Swimming: The SPASH girls placed second at the Wisconsin Valley Conference championship meet in Rhinelander on Friday, Oct. 26. Liz Herder took first in the 50-yard freestyle and the 100 freestyle. Sharisa Hillstead took first in the 100 breaststroke and the Panther 200 medley and 200 freestyle teams won their events as well. The team plays next at the WIAA sectionals at Eau Claire North on Saturday, Nov. 3. Cross Country: The SPASH boys team took second in Division 1 at the WIAA State Cross Country meet on Saturday, Oct. 27, while the girls team took ninth. See story page 18. Amber Groshek led the team with eight kills while Stephanie Weirzba chipped in with seven.
