Both the Pointer men's and women's teams placed third at this year's WIAC championships in Eau Claire. UW-La Crosse won both titles and UW-Oshkosh was second in both races.

Mark LaLonde (Park Falls) was sixth overall in the men's race with a time of 25:05 to earn all-conference honors.

Kara Vosters (Little Chute) was the next-highest finisher for the women's team, placing 10th in 18:48.

The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point will take this week off before running in the NCAA Division III Midwest Regional Saturday, Nov. 10, in Rock Island, Ill.

UW-SP can clinch at least a tie for the WIAC title and the league's automatic playoff berth by winning at UW-Platteville this Saturday, Nov. 3, and beating UW-Eau Claire at home on Saturday, Nov. 10. UW-SP, UW-Platteville and UW-La Crosse are all tied at 3-2 in second place in the WIAC, while UW-Eau Claire leads the league at 4-1.
