Free clinic offered for area runners
A free Runners Clinic will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 29, at Physical Therapy Associates, 2918 Post
Road, Whiting.
The clinic is sponsored by Physical Therapy Associates and will include lower extremity biomechanical assessment
and a video analysis.
Rick Witt, head men's track and cross country coach at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, will advise on
training regimens and tips to improve running efficiency.
Dr. Todd Williams from the Rice Clinic Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Department is also available for consultation.
He is an avid runner and values the importance of education to the runners in the community in order to prevent
injury.
Pete Kell from Eastbay will be available with various styles of running shoes so runners may learn the anatomy
of a shoe and what type of running shoe works best with a particular foot structure.
Teresa Timerman, a physical therapist, said "There was such a fantastic response by the running community
last year that we knew we wanted to offer a runners clinic again. The runners have given us such positive feedback
about how much they learned and benefited from our clinic."
Everything from proper stretching technique to appropriate running shoes for a particular foot structure is addressed.
Stations also include slow motion video analysis to make recommendations to improve running form and detect any
biomechanical involvement that may predispose a runner to injuries.
