Baseball: The
Cardinals defeated Shiocton Tuesday, May 8, 8-3, bringing their season record to 11-5 overall and 9-5 in the Central
Wisconsin Conference Large Division.
The Cardinals lost a 7-2 lead and dropped an 8-7 decision to Marion on Monday May
7, when Marion scored on two singles, a walk and a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh.
Chris Jacobson had three hits and Adam Brazzale, Ahern Cashin and Jake Owens each
added two for the Cardinals. Reliever Ben Disher took the mound loss.
"After we scored the seven runs, we coasted a little," Pacelli coach
Wayne Sankey said. "We need to develop the killer instinct to put teams away in the later innings. We did
make good contact at the plate and we are having other guys start to contribute offensively," he said. "We
are leaving way too many runners on base."
The Cardinals defeated Menominee Indian, 12-2, on Saturday, May 4, as Owens tossed
a two-hitter and both runs were unearned, scoring on errors with two outs.
"Jake was focused and threw strikes," Sankey said. "When he uses
all of his pitches, he is tough to hit."
Brad Heeg and Jeff Herzog led the Cardinals with two hits each, including a double
for each.
