Municipal pool launches summer swim programs
The Donald Copps Municipal Pool - Waterslide Park will be launching its summer season with a "Grand Pool Opening"
on Saturday, June 2, at 1 p.m. Admission is free from 1-4 p.m. and WOFM/WIZD 94.79/99.9 will be broadcasting live
from poolside from 2-4 p.m. There will also be door prizes and family and individual season swim passes given away
throughout the day.
The pool's public swim hours are Monday-Sunday from 1-4 p.m. and 5-8 p.m. starting Saturday, June 2.
Admission prices are $1 for children 5-years-old and younger and $1.50 for those 6-years-old and older. Resident
season passes are available for $30 per individual or $60 per family. Non-resident season passes are $40 per individual
or $80 per family.
Swim lessons are held Monday-Thursday from 10:30-11:10 a.m. and 11:15-11:55 a.m. Six two and a half week sessions

The Donald Copps Municipal Pool - Waterslide Park, in association with area businesses, will be sponsoring several
two-hour free public swimming lessons. Lessons will take place on Saturday's from 10 a.m.-noon from June 23 through
Aug. 4.
Lap swim hours are available for patrons 16 years and older, June 4-Aug.24, Monday-Friday from 7-7:50 a.m. and
12 -12:50 p.m.
There will be a number of admission specials at the pool during the summer: Student appreciation days are Monday-Friday,
June 4-8.
Students may bring in and show the pool cashiers an "A" or "E" on their fourth quarter report
card for the 2000-2001 school year and swim free from 5-8 p.m. (one time use only); Wear or bring in "Old
Glory" on Flag Day, Thursday, June 14, and swim free; Father's Day, Sunday, June 17, fathers swim free when
accompanied by at least one paying child; Mother's Day, Sunday June 24, mom's swim free when accompanied by at
least one paying child; Independence Day, Wednesday, July 4, wear red, white and blue all at once and swim free;
Ride the City Bus Day, Monday, July 23, ride the transit system on this date and with a paid bus fare, receive
a free swimming session pass; Dive in Tube Movie Night, Saturday, August 4, 5-10 p.m. Float on tubes or sit on
deck while watching a special movie for all ages, $3 admission; Senior Citizens Day, every Monday, free admission
to all swimmers 55 years and older beginning June 11.
There will also be a number of evening activities: Tubes n' Toys Night, swimmers can bring air-filled tubes or
pool toys on Tuesday nights starting June 9; Recreational Swim Night, water polo, water basketball and water volleyball
will be set up for swimmers Wednesday nights beginning June 13. Lifeguard T-Shirt Night, wear the selected T-shirt
of the night and swim for free on Thursday nights beginning June 14; Family Night, children 0-17 must be accompanied
by at least one swimming or non-swimming parent on Friday nights beginning June 15.

Iverson, Bukolt and Mead park beaches will open Saturday, June 2. Iverson's hours are 12-7 p.m., Monday-Friday,
12-4 p.m. after July 31. Bukolt and Mead park beaches are open Monday-Friday from 12-4 p.m. with no evening swimming
allowed.
