Plover 12-year-olds win fastpitch tournament

Eleven local teams competed in the 2001 Plover Girls Fastpitch Tournament Friday, June 22, Saturday, June 23, and Sunday, June 24, at Woyak Community Park in Plover.

The Plover 12 team went undefeated and won in the 12 and under bracket, the Plover 16-18 team came in third in the 18 and under bracket and the Plover team finished second in the 10 and under bracket.

Plover 16-18 (18 and under bracket)

The team finished 4-1, defeating Tomahawk, 17-0, Marinette, 30-0 and Madison KLL, 12-0, in the consolation game earning them a third place finish.

Only a 2-1 loss to Wisconsin Rapids in nine innings prevented the team from going to the championship game.

Team members include Alexis Mains, Katie Olds, Amanda Schultz, Kristin Sorenson, Jenny Maultra, Samantha Polito, Shannon Collier, Lindsay Rosicky, Jill Saddison, Lyndsay Gagas, Dana Jacquin, Ame Stanislawski and Darcia Wesenberg.

The team is coached by Todd Vanderloop.

Plover Red 16-18 (under 18 bracket)

The team finished 1-3 with losses to Wisconsin Rapids 18, 6-3, Mad-City Stingers, 12-0, and Pulaski, 9-7 and a victory over Kaukauna.

Team members include Jenny Carroll, Lindsay Davis, Becky Fischer, Bethany Reed, Angie Wroblewski, Kate Zelhofer, Kirbi Dudeck, Courtney Newby, Laurie Oksiuta, Kelly Pliska, Kari Heagle and Holly Grunke.

The team is coached by Kent Zelhofer.

Plover 15 (15 and under bracket)

The team finished 3-1, defeating Stevens Point, 20-1, Neillsville, 14-1, and Marinette, 14-1. The team's only loss came in the semi-final round to Wisconsin Rapids, 3-2.

Coach Dave Trebiatowski said he was happy with his team's effort and was particularly impressed with the performance of pitcher Kelly Jablonski, who didn't give up a hit during the tournament.

Pitchers were only allowed to pitch four innings per game during the tournament.

He said Beth Boden and Stephanie Fischer also did a great job from the plate.

Team members include Beth Boden, Karryn Brooks, Melissa Fields, Stephanie Fields, Stephanie Fischer, Jessica Gagnon, Kelly Jablonski, Megan Mason, Colby Mehne, Jacci Seefeldt, Miranda Sexton and Heather Trebiatowski.

Plover 14 (15 and under bracket)

The team finished 0-3, with losses to Luxemburg-Casco, 14-2, Pulaski, 12-0, and Hortonville, 9-1.

Team members include Keely Bohm, Emily Carroll, Jaycie Fritsch, Riley Furmanek, Tiffany Jastromski, Danielle Kliegl, Jenni Koch, Kaitlyn Lane, Maureen Repinski, Kaylei Sorenson, Stephanie Berg and Megan Wesenberg.

Bob Jastromski is the team's coach.

Plover 13 (15 and under bracket)

The team finished 1-3 with a victory over Stevens Point, 19-6, and losses to Ashwaubenon, 13-0, and Tomahawk 13-14, 12-4.

Team members include Jessica Doll, Jennifer Flury, Brittany Forrest, Samantha Henke, Karrah Koss, Arin Lane, Katie Maultra, Steph Precourt, Amanda Rajski, Jessa Schlafke and Karissa Scott.

Ted Schlafke coaches the team.

Stevens Point 15 (15 and under bracket)

The team finished 0-3, with losses to Plover, 20-1, Marinette, 14-13, and Neillsville, 11-10.

Team members include Lynsey Martin, Julie Engum, Maria Davis, Erica Brilowski, Desiree Rasmussen, Shawna Krogman, Michelle Weronke, Jill Szymkowiak, Kristen Spranger, Cassie Kinney and Laura Suminski.

The team is coached by Jeff Martin.

Stevens Point 13-14 (15 and under bracket)

The team finished 0-3, with losses to Plover 13, 19-6, Tomahawk 13-14, 15-3, and Ashwaubenon 13, 5-0.

Team members include Melissa Carlson, Jackie Mallek, Kelsey Roselius, Zoe Reinecki, Ann Marie Baumhofer, Laura Sain, Lisa Richie and Jenna Smith.

Brian Smith is the coach.

Plover 12 (12 and under bracket)

The team finished 5-0, defeating DC Everest, 7-0, Tomahawk, 26-5 and Pulaski, 14-2. The girls beat Greenville, 13-1, in the semi-final and defeated Pulaski, 5-4, to win the bracket.

Coach Ray Przybelski attributed the team's victories to executing some baseball basics. "Our girls pitched very well and we hit the ball," he said.
Team members include Christa Bembenek, Pamela Boden, Teri Edlebeck, Casey Hanson, Cassandra Henke, Kaitlyn King, Emily Klismith, Brittany Laska, Samantha Przybelski, Leah Raflik, Rachel Roth and Gretch Treml.

Plover 11 (12 and under bracket)

The team finished 1-2, defeating Stevens Point, 16-2, and losing to Greenville, 14-1, and Ashwaubenon, 12-8.

Team members include Jennifer Alessi, Hillary Forrest, Ashley Kufka, Sarah Free, Mary Erler, Kelsey Chase, Amanda Evanoff, Jordan Kryshak, Sara Sadlemeyer, Emily Richter, Jordan Olds and Allison Fritsch.

The team is coached by Mike Evenoff.

Stevens Point (12 and under bracket)

The team finished 0-3. No other information was submitted.

Plover (10 and under bracket)

The team finished 2-1, taking second place in its bracket.

Team members include Brittany Berquist, Ashley Doddratz, Sarah Gagnon, Kate Glodowski, Jill Graboski, Nicole Henke, Kristi Higgins, Jennifer Koback, Katie Krueger, Sarah Lais, Ali Novotny, Hillary Trebiatowski.
