Plover Legion baseball jumps out to 5-5 start
The Plover Legion Post 543 baseball team (Black Sox) fell to a 5-5 record, 2-2 conference, after its loss to Marshfield,
11-5, on Tuesday, June 19.
Ben King was the winning pitcher for Marshfield, while Matt Mehne took the loss
for Plover. Adam Evanoff led the Black Sox from the plate with a two for three performance, including three RBI.
The team had been on a two-game winning streak with victories over Wisconsin Rapids,
6-1, and La Crosse, 9-8.
In the Monday, June 18, win over Rapids, Kyle Bohm got the win on the mound, and
also went three for four at the plate, driving in three runs.
In the Black Sox Saturday, June 16, win over La Crosse, which was the second game
of a doubleheader, Luke Aubut was the winning pitcher and Rex Fair went three for four and drove in three RBI.
Plover lost the first game of the doubleheader to La Crosse, 14-5. Evanoff was
the losing pitcher for Plover. Fair, Bohm, Craig Miller and Koback each had two hits in the loss, with Fair and
Bohm also having two RBIs apiece.
The Black Sox team includes Adam Pezewski, Casey Neuville, Garrett Pflugardt, Rex
Fair, Matt Mehne, Jason Firkus, Matt Barden, Joel Hojnacki, Philip Koback, Luke Aubut, Adam Evanoff, Jim Schmit,
Craig Miller and Kyle Bohm.
Wayne Sankey is the manager of the team. Kermit Wallin, Paul Alexander, Josh Owens,
Steve Sankey, Kevin Polito and Dan Grabski are the coaches.
