Cyran, Nelson score holes in one at Jamboree at SentryWorld

A Stevens Point golfer won $10,000 Saturday, June 23, for a hole in one during the Wisconsin State Bowling Association Golf and Bowling Official Jamboree at SentryWorld.

Bob Cyran used a No. 6 iron on the par-3 16th hole, commonly known as "the Flower Hole" and hit his tee shot onto the green, with the ball taking one bounce and going into the hole. The hole in one was his first.

He shot a round of 97 on the 18 holes, admitting he had one bad hole where he had problems with a water hazard.

The prize for a hole in one on the hole was sponsored by Kim's Barrel Inn and Skipps Bowling Center.

Cyran wasn't the only one to record a hole in one among the jamboree golfers.

Dale Nelson of Waupaca teed off on the fourth hole with a gap wedge and his ball took one bounce and went into the hole. Nelson won a set of irons for the hole in one, which was also his first.

The Jamboree attracted 72 golfers and 116 bowlers for the event. Winners are determined by doubling the golf score and then subtracting the bowling score.

SentryWorld was a hotbed for hole-in-one action on Saturday. In the last foursome to tee off before the Jamboree started, Terry O'Brien of Antioch, Ill., recorded a hole in one on the fourth hole. He didn't win anything for his ace, since he wasn't part of the Jamboree event.
