Boys basketball: The Cardinals dropped a pair of games in the Sentry Classic. On Thursday, they lost to Waunakee, 74-68, and on Friday, they lost to Waupaca, 72-47.

Two Cardinals were honored for their play in the classic. Jason Lepak was named to the Boys American Division All-Tournament Team and Ben Greuel received the Hustle Award.

Girls basketball: The Cardinals lost both their games in the Sentry Classic. They fell to Wausau Newman, 47-28, on Thursday and then to Mosinee, 63-21, on Saturday.

Wrestling: The Cardinals finished 26th in the 40-team Oshkosh on the Water Invitational Friday and Saturday.

Greg Snow led the Cardinals with a fourth-place finish at 152 pounds, winning four matches and losing two. Justin Anderson took 10th place at 160 pounds, going 4-3. John Sniadajewski was the only other Cardinal to place, taking 12th with a 3-3 record at 171 pounds.

"We had a pretty good tournament," said Cardinal coach Jay Yenter, adding that only seven Cardinal wrestlers competed. "There were a few matches that we should have won, but when you get into the second day of a tournament this tough, the wrestlers are so even that making one small mistake can cost you the match."

Yenter said Snow wrestled the best he has seen him. "He been a little tentative so far this year, but he really opened it up the last two days. Her dominated people on his way to the semifinals, recording three pins, including one against the No. 1 seed in the quarterfinals.

"In the semis he was winning by 2 with 15 seconds left in the match," Yenter said. "He just got complacent for a second and gave up an escape and a takedown in the last few seconds."

Yenter said Anderson lost some tough matches and dominated those he won, with three pins and a 16-5 victory. "Justin is a very hard worker and continues to get better every day."

Sniadajewski was doing well until he hurt his knee in the tournament and had to withdraw, Yenter said. "Preliminary tests on the knee did not look promising," Yenter said. "All we can do is hope and pray that he will be alright. He is one of our leaders and we need him badly."
