SPASH

Boys basketball: The Panthers (2-2 overall, 2-1 WVC) defeated Wausau West, 70-60, in a Wisconsin Valley Conference game on Tuesday, Dec. 4. Dan Osili and Ted Schlafke each had 15 points while Chad Erspamer (9 points) and Ryan Taggatz (8 points) also had solid nights.

The SPASH boys beat Antigo, 56-43, on Friday, Nov. 30. Taggatz led the team with 17 points Osili added nine and Adam Evanoff had eight.

Girls basketball: SPASH (3-2 overall) had a strong second half in a come back win at Wausau West, Tuesday, Dec. 4. The Panthers outscored Wausau West, 30-17, in the second half to pull out the victory. Shannon Collier led the team in scoring with 15 points, while Nicole Gotta added nine.

The team lost to Antigo, 38-32, on Friday, Nov. 30. Ashley Konopacki led the team with seven points.

Hockey: The team (0-1-1) lost, 3-1, to Wisconsin Rapids, on Tuesday, Dec. 4. Joe Pavelski scored SPASH's lone goal.

The Panthers tied, 2-2, with Antigo, on Thursday, Nov. 29. Pavelski and Nate Alm scored for the team.

Wrestling: The Panthers were dominant in winning the Seymour Tournament Saturday, Dec. 1. The team won all five of its duals and had four wrestlers go undefeated - Steve Bachinski (125 pounds), Nate Kurszewski (140), Josh Przekurat (160) and Grey Pope (171).

SPASH beat D.C. Everest, 30-28, on Thursday, Nov. 29.

Gymnastics: The Panthers opened the season in style by winning the Menominee (Mich.) Invitational on Saturday, Dec. 1. The team scored 136.7250 points in the win. Second- place Wisconsin Rapids scored 130.6.

"It is great to begin the season with such a strong victory," said coach Mary Olszewski, "Placing first in every event shows how strong we are beginning the season compared to other teams."

Kaity Munsey finished second overall in individual points with 35.15. Teammate Raenee Bugarske finished sixth overall with 32.15. Munsey finished tied for second in the balance beam, tied for first in the uneven bars and third in the floor exercise.

Nikki Cruz took first in the floor exercise with a score of 9.1. Carrie Williamson tied for second in the vault with a score of 8.8.

PACELLI

Boys basketball: The Cardinals (2-1 overall) lost to Shiocton, 65-61, on Tuesday, Dec. 4. See story page 14).

The Pacelli boys defeated Menominee Indian, 78-62, on Friday, Nov. 30. Brad Heeg led the team with 13 points Jake Owens had 11 and Jeff Herzog and Brent Zoromski had 10 each.

The team lost to Marshfield Columbus, 72-48, on Wednesday, Nov. 28. Heeg led the Cardinals with 17 points.

Girls basketball: The Pacelli girls squeaked past Shiocton, 42-41, on a last second shot by Jenny Mitchell on Tuesday, Dec. 4. Stephanie Johnson had 18 points, Stephanie Fischer chipped in with nine and Emily Radomski added seven.

The team crushed Menominee Indian, 56-22, Friday, Nov. 30. Radomski led the Cardinals with 14 points, Megan Piotrowski had 12 and Emily Swenson 8.

Wrestling: The Cardinals lost, 66-9, to Auburndale on Thursday, Nov. 29. The Cardinals had to forfeit in seven weight classes.

AMHERST

Boys basketball: The Falcons (2-1 overall, 1-1 CWC large) lost to Wittenberg-Birnamwood, 63-51, on Tuesday, Dec. 4. Scott Nykl led the team with 14 points and Tim Olson added 13.

The Amherst boys beat Marion, 62-50, on Friday, Nov. 30. Travis Bassett led the team with19 points and Nykl added 17.

Girls basketball: The Amherst girls (2-1 CWC large, 3-2 overall) lost, 58-54, in overtime to Wittenberg-Birnamwood Tuesday, Dec. 4. Center Molly Simkins scored 23 points and added 23 rebounds. However, the team was unable to cope with her absence when Simkins fouled out in the fourth quarter. Jamie Krutza scored 22.

The Falcons beat Marion, 50-33, on Thursday, Nov. 29. Krutza had 14 points, JoAnn Konkol 13 and Simkins 8 in the win.

ROSHOLT

The Hornets jumped out to at 20-8 lead in the first quarter and defeated Iola-Scandinavia, 59-44, on Tuesday, Dec. 4.

Four Hornets scored in double figures. Dane Zdroik had 15; Mat Zdroik, 14; Brad Zdroik, 11; and Cole Firkus, 10.

"We shot real well early and Iola struggled early," said Rosholt coach Steve Schoofs. "It got a little ragged in the middle and at the end, but we kept a decent lead all night," he said.

I-S closed the game in the second quarter, making it 29-21 at the half, but the Hornets outscored I-S 16-8 in the third quarter to take a 45-29 lead into the final quarter.

"The key to our game was we shot well in spots," Schoofs said, pointing out that Rosholt made seven of its 12 three-point attempts.

The team defeated Port Edwards, 55-33, Friday, Nov. 30. See story page 14.

Girls basketball: The Hornets (3-0 CWC small, 6-0 overall) beat Iola-Scandinavia, 38-27, Tuesday, Dec. 4. Emily Steines led the way for Rosholt with 15 points and Tami Scott added eight.

The team crushed Port Edwards, 54-28, Friday, Nov. 30. Steines led the way with 12 points.

ALMOND-BANCROFT

Boys basketball: The Eagles (2-0 CWC small, 2-1 overall) defeated Bowler, 68-56, on Tuesday, Dec. 4. Joel Erickson scored 24 points in the win. Adam Berry had 17 points and Dave Johnson added 10.

The Rosholt boys defeated Tri-County, 52-36, on Friday, Nov. 30. Adam Berry led the team with 23 points and Randy Berry had 18.

Girls basketball: The Eagles (0-2 CWC small), 1-4 overall) lost, 57-54, in overtime to Bowler on Tuesday, Dec. 4. Courtney Newby and Christyn Johnson had 12 points apiece and Darlene Turzinski added 10.

The team lost to Tri-County, 40-35, on Friday, Nov. 30. Heather Wittig led the team with 13 points and Johnson added 12.
