Some Gazette staffers thought they should share their football "knowledge" with our readers, so every week we'll predict who will win at the high school, college and professional football levels.
Here's our comments:
The Sports Guy: 1) With a new coach and new systems, the Everest game comes too early on SPASH's schedule. 2) Hornets will continue to roll after knocking off Iola-Scandinavia. 3) The Badgers won't get 'Cincinatti-ied.' 4) Go with the "Golden Domers" in an upset. 5) Volunteers will run over Favre's alma mater. 6) Yeah, there's no Dorsey or defense, but Favre's back. 7) Flip a coin for the Central's soon-to-be fourth and fifth place teams.

Advertising Representative 1: 1) Evergreens are a "tall order" for the Panthers. 2) So much scoring in this one, it will be called on account of darkness. 3) Badger band could win this one. 4) Momentum-building win for the Irish. Momentum stops abruptly next week when Nebraska comes to South Bend. 5) Next week's poll: So. Miss (12), Tenn. (24). 6) Packers in a must-win situation. If they lose, Ray Rhodes could be back. 7) Bears and Vikings both suck, but someone has to win.

Contributing Editor: 1) D.C.E. rules! 2) I like the Amherst Coffee Co. 3) Cupcake time. 4) Catholic guilt. 5) Pick Brett's alma mater. 6) Green Bay native follows heart. 7) Anyone but Moss.

Advertising Representative 2: 1) Look for the Panthers to dominate early. Coach McAdams will have them well prepared in their home opener. 2) The Hornets are going to swarm. 3) Western Michigan learns the hard way that the Badgers' running game is alive and well! 4) Give this one to the Fighting Irish, they will surprise some skeptics. 5) Close game but the Volunteers will step forward in the fourth quarter. 6) Pack will win for new coach...will we see Hasselbeck? 7) The Vikings will lose at home, OUCH!!

Advertising Representative 3: Both Green Bay and Minnesota should win by 10-plus points.

Intern 1: 1) Big, big and bigger! Any questions? 4) Texas might go to third stringers by the first half. 6) Have not seen No. 4 in any bars as of late. 7) Young QB + Young WR = Many TDs.

Intern 2: 6) Without Levens, the Packers won't beat anybody. 7) The Vikings couldn't beat SPASH.
