ROSHOLT - The Rosholt High girls volleyball team put on an offensive clinic Tuesday night and Almond-Bancroft was
the victim.
The Hornets, in the last match of a Central Wisconsin Conference triangular, had their way with the Eagles in a
15-1, 15-4, 15-8 victory.
Strong back-row passing, Lana Daulton's setting, and hitting from Jenna Eschenbauch and Allie Larson kept Rosholt
on the offensive and made quick work of A-B.
"Our passing was crisp in the first two games and that allowed our hitters to put the ball away," Rosholt
coach Troy Miller said. "We controlled the match in the first two games."
The Hornets (7-3 in CWC) jumped to a 6-0 lead in the first game and after the Eagles scored a single point, Rosholt
racked up the final nine points of the game. In the second game, A-B got within 5-2 before the Hornets took control
and a 12-2 lead.
"They pretty much controlled the first two games. We didn't pass the ball really well," A-B coach Roger
Young said. "Early in game two, we had a stretch where we did all right. We got some offense going."
The Hornets opened the triangular by handling Wild Rose, 15-7, 15-8, 15-8. Rosholt trailed 7-2 in the second game
and then scored six straight points behind Aubrey Rice's serving to take an 8-7 lead.
"We were a bit sloppy at first. Wild Rose played with us early on," Miller said. "We served well
in the second game and gave ourselves a lot of opportunities."
A-B also dropped its match with Wild Rose, 15-10, 15-8, 15-17. The Wildcats pulled away in the first two games
and with the match decided, the Eagles pulled out game three. In game two, Wild Rose gained a 9-6 advantage and
quickly turned it into a 14-6 lead.
"They got the breaks at the end of the games to be able to pull them out," Young said. |
