SPASH's Pavelski bounces back on second day at state golf meet
MADISON - Stevens Point Area Senior High freshman golfer Joe Pavelski dropped 20 shots off of his first-day total
to finish with a 172 at the WIAA state golf meet, at University Ridge Golf Course.
Pavelski, who opened the tournament Monday with a 96, shot a 76 in Tuesday's play to finish with the two-day total
of 172. Dallas Diener of Fond du Lac had the lowest score with a 141.
"Joe had a great round," SPASH coach John Schell said Tuesday. "He played a great round like we're
accustomed to seeing from Joe."
Monday's 47 and 49 splits left him tied for the highest score among individual qualifiers. Pavelski did bounce
back, finishing four-over par Tuesday. On the 18 holes Tuesday, he hit 13 greens in regulation and made 12 pars
and one birdie.
"It turned out positive. It showed out how sports go," Schell said. "Generally, you have the opportunity
to step forward the next day. He left with a great taste in his mouth." |
