Sullivan promoted by Phillies to Class A Piedmont Boll Weevils
Pacelli High School graduate Kevin Sullivan is moving up in the Philadelphia Phillies
minor league organization.
Sullivan, who started at catcher for four years at Carthage College, was promoted
last week to the Philadelphia's Class A Piedmont Boll Weevils, a member of the South Atlantic League.
He appeared in 12 games for the Batavia Muckdogs, a member of the Class A Short-Season
New York-Penn League. While with the Muckdogs, Sullivan batted .176 but had six hits in his last 14 at bats. He
drew eight walks and scored four runs while splitting time between catcher and designated hitter.
In his debut for the Boll Weevils, Sullivan was 0-for-3. He scored two runs and
had a stolen base.
Piedmont, which is located in Kannapolis, North Carolina, is considered the second
highest of Philadelphia's three Class A teams. The Clearwater Phillies (Fla.) is the top Class A team and Batavia
is third.
The Phillies picked Sullivan with the 15th selection in the 32nd round of Major
League Baseball's June Amateur Draft.

earned run average. In his previous two starts, Simonson held opponents to just one earned run in 14-1/3 innings.
