SPASH

Baseball: Wausau West proved to be no match for SPASH's bats Tuesday as the Panthers routed the host Warriors 16-4. SPASH (7-1 overall, 4-0 in the Wisconsin Valley Conference). Gabe Bauer's three-run homer in the first inning got things started as the Panthers plated five runs in the opening frame. SPASH added three runs in both the second and third innings and then five more in the sixth. Bauer added a solo homer in the third and finished 3-for-4 with five RBIs. Steve Wiczek was 3-for-5 with four RBIs, Kyle Bohm went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and Chad Kingston was 2-for-3 as the Panthers collected 15 hits.
The Panthers exploded offensively again Monday, crushing Wisconsin Rapids 12-3. Wiczek hit a pair of home runs and had six RBIs as SPASH grabbed an 11-3 lead after three innings. Bohm (2-for-3) had a solo homer while Mark Pacyna and Chase Moore both were 2-for-3. Wiczek finished 3-for-4 and Kingston added a triple. Ben Peterson picked up the win after pitching six innings.

Boys golf: SPASH finished second in a triangular Tuesday at the Stevens Point Country Club. Freshman Joe Pavelski (81), Jake Barge (84), Joe Meinholz (89) and Jeff Bushman (92) scored as the Panthers finished with 346. D.C. Everest had 341 and Wausau East had 349.

Girls soccer: The Panthers scored twice in the first half and then held on to beat Wausau West 2-1 Tuesday at home. SPASH's Megan Oswall and Mandi Michelkamp each had goals in the first half. The Warriors got within one, 2-1, on a breakaway goal midway through the second half. Janel McCarville had eight saves in the Panther net.

"We knew Wausau was going to be physical. I don't think they expected us to come out that way," SPASH coach Sharon Peterson said.

Boys track: The Panthers beat Wausau West 95-46 in a dual meet Tuesday at Goerke Field. Chad Erspamer (high jump and triple jump) won two events while Rick Trzebiatowski (pole vault), Robb Kolodziej (shot put), Travis Laird (long jump), Josh Garbe (400-meter run), Chris Solinsky (800 meters) and Kyle Patoka (3,200 meters) also finished first. The 3,200, 400 and 1,600 relays also won.

Girls track: SPASH topped Wausau West 92-54 Tuesday in a dual meet at Goerke Field. Tracy Knippel (long jump and triple jump) finished first in a pair of events. Also winning events were Erin Guzinski (high jump), Abby Ofori-Amoah (shot put), Jenny Martin (discus), Erin Legro (100 hurdles), Kelly Konopacki (100 meters), Mollie Sprouse (1,600 meters), Kim Klosno (400 meters), Amber Perri (200 meters) and Laine Willkom (3,200 meters). The 400 and 800 relays also won.

Pacelli

Boys golf: Pacelli improved to 4-0 on the year with a 175-185 win over Amherst Monday. John Okray was the medalist with a 41 while Brandon Flugaur (43), Jon Wachowiak (43) and Brandon Peterson (48) scored for the Cardinals.

Softball: The Cardinals topped Tomahawk on the road Monday 10-4. Pacelli pulled away in the late innings, scoring once in the fifth inning, three times in the sixth and twice in the seventh. Aerin Spitz got the win on the mound.

Amherst

Baseball: The Falcons scored three times in the fourth inning but it wasn't enough, as Amherst fell 5-3 at home to Bonduel. Philip Koback drove in all three runs on a bases-clearing triple and was 2-for-3 at the plate. Jason Heinz and Todd Orlowski both had a pair of hits for the Falcons (6-4 overall, 3-3 in the Central Wisconsin Conference large division).

Boys golf: Amherst finished second among three teams at a triangular at Shawano Tuesday. Jeremy Sherf shot a 39 to earn medalist honors while Matt Clinton (46), Brian Pionkowski (47) and Jeff Cloninger (48) scored to give the Falcons a 180. Bonduel won with 175 and host Menominee Indian was third with 202.

The Falcons dropped a match Monday to Pacelli, 175-185. Pionkowski (43), Clinton (46), Sherf (46) and Cloninger (51) scored for Amherst.
Softball: The Falcons held off a late rally and edged visiting Bonduel 7-6 Monday. Amherst scored three times in the fifth inning and a run in the sixth to take a 7-4 lead. The Bears battled back with a pair of runs in the top of the seventh and had runners on second and third with two outs in the inning. Jenny Jastromski surrendered seven hits, struck out seven and walked three in the win. Crystal Morgan had three hits, including a triple and a RBI single in the fifth to tie the score. Jamie Krutza scored the decisive run on a throwing error to third.

Almond-Bancroft

Baseball: The Eagles scored 15 times on only nine hits to top Gresham 15-9 Monday. A-B held a 12-2 lead as Matt Cummings led the way with four RBIs.

Softball: The Eagles sank Green Lake 19-4 Tuesday on the road. Sarah Berry had seven RBIs on a 4-for-4 performance that included a home run and a triple as A-B scored five times in the first inning, twice in the second and eight more times in the third inning to take a commanding 15-4 lead. Amber Glodowski was also 4-for-4 and had two doubles, one triple and three RBIs. Tabitha Sawyer surrendered nine hits and struck out two for the win.

An eight-run second inning set the stage for a 14-3 A-B win at Port Edwards Monday. Glodowski finished 3-for-4 with four RBIs and a pair of doubles. Amy Sawyer and Courtney Newby each had three hits. Emily Getzloff held the Blackhawks to four hits in the complete game win.

Boys track: The Eagles grabbed a third place finish with 39 points at the Iola-Scandinavia quadrangular Tuesday.

Girls track: Stephanie Jenz won three events - the shot put, discus and 100 hurdles - as the Eagles finished third at the Iola-Scandinavia quadrangular.

Rosholt

Baseball: A first-inning grand slam by Tom Stanislawski set the tone as the Hornets clobbered Tigerton 15-1 Tuesday. Randy Printz, Brad Zdroik and Bryce Domask all hit homers in the five-inning game. Domask was 3-for-3 with a triple and three RBIs and Printz went 3-for-3 with two RBIs.

The Hornets jumped all over Wild Rose in the earlygoings and routed the Wildcats 14-3 in five innings Monday. Rosholt scored six runs in the first inning and five more in the second to take an 11-1 lead. Senica Omernik, Tom Stanislawski, Randy Printz and Ryan Zdroik all hit home runs. Omernik was 4-for-4 and added a double.

Softball: The Hornets took control with a six-run fifth inning and topped Port Edwards 12-6 on the road Tuesday. Emily Steines held the Blackhawks to just five hits and struck out eight.

Tigerton's Holly Kurszewski allowed only one hit as the Tigers topped Rosholt 13-1 Monday. Pitcher Emily Steines singled in the first inning.
