Galecke elected to national Izaak Walton executive board
Dave Galecke, a member of Stevens Point's Bill Cook Chapter, was elected to the Executive Board of the national
Izaak Walton League at the conservation organization's recent convention in Des Moines, Iowa.
He is the first Wisconsin resident to serve on the board in at least the last 20 years, and was chosen for a three-year
term.
The Executive Board is the governing and administrative body of the league.
Bob Elliker of the Bill Cook Chapter became a national director of the league this year by virtue of his position
as state president. Attending the convention from here, besides Galecke and Elliker, were Dave Jorgenson and Will
Lehner.
A resolution adopted at the convention asks that ocean ships be required to treat their ballast water before entering
the Great Lakes. The zebra mussel and other harmful organisms are believed to have entered the lakes through ballast
water.
Another resolution endorsed the roadless area plan for national forests. |
