Natural landscaping chapter forms
Area residents are invited to attend a meeting to organize a central Wisconsin chapter of Wild Ones Natural Landscapers.
The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 24, at the Schmeeckle Reserve Visitors Center, 2419 NorthPoint
Drive.
Wild Ones is a nonprofit organization with a mission to share information with members and the community at the
"plant-roots" level and promote biodiversity and environmentally sound practices. Members participate
in "bulldozer alerts" to rescue native plants in the path of development. Monthly chapter meetings include
field trips, as well as presentation by experts on topics such as seed collecting. More than 40 central Wisconsin
residents now belong to Wild Ones chapters in Green Bay or the Fox Valley.
Representatives of Wild Ones, the Aldo Leopold Chapter of the Audubon Society, the Central Wisconsin Chapter of
the Botanical Club and Master Gardeners will also be at the organization meeting. For more information, contact
Peter Manley, Wood County Extension Community Development Resource Agent at (715) 421-8440. |
