Rita Helen Flugaur
Rita Helen Flugaur, 77, St. Louis Park, Minn., a Stevens Point native, died Sunday, July 25, 1999, in New Hope,
Minn.
Funeral services were held July 28 at Holy Family Catholic Church, St. Louis Park, Minn.
Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 11, at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Stevens Point
with the Rev. Al Burkhardt officiating.
The Kok Funeral Home, Cottage Grove, Minn., is assisting the family with arrangements.
Miss Flugaur was born July 31, 1921, in Stevens Point, a daughter of the late George and Elizabeth C. (Theiler)
Flugaur. She grew up in Stevens Point and attended St. Joseph's Grade School. She graduated from P.J. Jacobs High
School.
She joined the U.S. Marine Corps Women's Reserve in 1943, the first woman from Wisconsin to volunteer for the service.
She left the Marine Corps in 1945 and moved to Minneapolis, working in the insurance business. She later became
office manager with Winston Press, a religious education publishing firm, working there until her retirement in
1983.
Survivors include four brothers, Richard (Virginia) Flugaur, Decatur, Ill., George (Frances) Flugaur and Frank
(Lorraine) Flugaur, both of St. Louis Park, Minn.; and Jerry (Maxine) Flugaur, Maple Grove, Minn.; and four sisters,
Mary Heiman, Minneapolis, Florence Flugaur and Agnes Lawless, both of St. Louis Park, Minn.; and Ann (Norman) Hoffman,
Waconia, Minn.
She was also preceded in death by a sister and an infant twin brother.
