Dorothy L. Williams
Dorothy L. Williams, 87, mother of an Amherst man, died Friday, Dec 9,
2011, at Iola Living Assistance in Iola.
No formal funeral services will be held.
Shuda Funeral Chapel in Stevens Point assisted the family.
A memorial has been established in her name for the International Crane Foundation, PO Box 447, Baraboo, WI 53913.
Ms. Williams was born Aug. 8, 1924, in Dix, Ill., a daughter of the late William and Louise (Luchsinger) Dobbs.
She graduated from Monroe High School and attended the University of Wisconsin in Madison where she received bachelor's
and master's degrees in music education.
She taught music in Madison public schools for many years until her retirement. She then resided in Montello until
entering the nursing home.
She was a long-term member of the Madison Symphony Orchestra.
Survivors include two sons, Chip (Joni Sutton), Plymouth, Minn., and Dan (Alice) Williams, Amherst; two sisters,
Elsbeth Petzold, Madison, and Martha O'Brien, Finksburg, Md.; five grandsons; and two great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by one sister, Ada Iltis; and one grandson. |
