Ann J. Knitter

Ann J. Knitter, 89, Galloway, died Monday, Dec. 5, 2011, at her home, while under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Galloway. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.

Visitation will be at the church from noon Friday until the Mass, with a rosary service at noon.

Schmidt and Schulta Funeral Home of Wittenberg assisted the family with arrangements. Condolences may be offered online at

Mrs. Knitter was born July 26, 1922, in the town of Franzen, a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Bluma) Bushman.

She was married to Nick Knitter on Oct. 10, 1942, in Galloway.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Galloway and its Rosary Society.

Survivors include her husband; three sons, Ron (Jan) and Patrick, both of Galloway, and Bruce, Stevens Point; four daughters, Karen Collins, Idaho Falls, Idaho, Barbara Knitter, Rothschild, Debra (Dennis) Pucket, Merrill, and Pamela (Peter) Flees, Lake Mathews, Calif.; one sister, Bernice Kleman, Stevens Point; three brothers, John (Sadie) Bushman, Harry Bushman and Ernest (Mavis) Bushman, all of Galloway; 17 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by one brother, Marion Bushman; and two sons-in-law, Don Collins and Frank "Chip" Holmes.
