Eugene R. Kealiher

Eugene R. Kealiher, 76, 6741 Hillcrest Drive, town of Stockton, died unexpectedly Friday, Dec. 23, 2011, at his home.

A celebration of his life will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at Boston Funeral Home in Stevens Point, with the Rev. Bill Christiansen officiating.

Visitation will be at the funeral home from 4 p.m. Thursday until the celebration.

A memorial will be established in his name at a later date.

Mr. Kealiher was born Oct. 21, 1935, in the town of Farmington, Waupaca County, a son of the late Raymond and Gladys (Hebblewhite) Kealiher. He grew up in Amherst and graduated from Amherst High School.

He joined the U.S. Army in 1954. He served at Fort Benning, Ga., receiving an honorable discharge in 1956.

He was married to Darlene M. VandeVoorde on Oct. 13, 1958, in Valparaiso, Ind.

They settled in Amherst where he worked as a mechanic for a time and then worked for Bake-Rite Baking for 21-1/2 years.

In 1984 he and his family moved to Oklahoma City, Okla., where he worked for Tri State Motor Transport until retirement in 1997. He moved back to Iola in 1998 and then to the town of Stockton in 2002.

He was a member of the Trucking Teamsters Union.

Survivors include his wife; one son, Joseph (Carol), Abrams; two sisters, Clydene Stedman-Rholoff, Waupaca, and Karen Moerke, Stevens Point; one brother, Stanley, Waupaca; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by one son, Douglas; and two brothers, Charles and Donald.
