| Joseph M. Friday Joseph M. Friday, 78, a resident at Point Manor in Stevens Point and a former owner of Home Furnishings in Stevens Point, died Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2011, at Ministry St. Michael's Hospital in Stevens Point. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday at St. Peter Catholic Church in Stevens Point, with the Rev. Arul Joseph V. officiating. Burial was in Guardian Angel Cemetery in Stevens Point. Visitation was at Boston Funeral Home in Stevens Point Sunday and at the church Monday. A memorial has been established in his name for St. Peter Catholic Church. Condolences may be offered online at bostonfuneralhome.net. Mr. Friday was born March 9, 1933, in Stevens Point, a son of the late August and Susan (Glinski) Friday. He attended St. Peter Grade School and graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School in 1950. He was inducted into the U.S. Army on June 3, 1953. He served with the Army of Occupation in Germany following World War II. He received the National Defense Service Medal and Army of Occupation Medal. He was honorably discharged May 4, 1955. He was married to Henrietta Yetter on June 27, 1956, at St. Peter Catholic Church in Stevens Point. Following the military, he joined the family business, Home Furnishings, which began with his grandfather, Michael, in the early 1920s. He owned and operated the business with his brother, David, until closing it in 2004. Survivors include his wife; one sister, Ethel A. Koperski, Omaha, Neb.; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, David and Pat; and one sister, Constance Friday. |
