Margaret 'Mickey' Bukowski

Margaret "Mickey" Bukowski, 88, Stevens Point, died Thursday, Dec. 1, 2011, at Harmony Living Center in Stevens Point.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Casimir Catholic Church in the town of Hull, with the Rev. Arul Joseph V. officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Visitation will be at the church from 9 a.m. Saturday until the Mass. A general rosary will be prayed at 9:45 a.m. Saturday at church.

Mrs. Bukowski was born Oct. 13, 1923, in the town of Hull, a daughter of the late Joseph and Anna (Retza) Bonowski. She attended St. Casimir Catholic School and graduated from St. Joseph's Academy of Stevens Point in 1942. She belonged to the drum and bugle corps and also played guitar, accordion, harmonica and liked to sing. She sang for many years in the St. Casimir Church choir while her father played the organ.

She was married to Sylvester Bukowski on May 6, 1944, at St. James Catholic Church in Redondo Beach, Calif. He died in 2007.

She worked in a glove factory while her husband served in the military during World War II. Upon her husband's discharge, she moved back to the town of Hull where she worked out of her home using her typing skills. Later, she worked for Hardware Mutual Insurance Co., which later became Sentry Insurance, from which she retired from in 1986.

Survivors include one son, Jerry (Sally), Stevens Point; one sister, Marion (Alexander) Kaminski, Vermont; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by one son, Larry, in 2008; two brothers; one sister; two stepbrothers; and four stepsisters.
