| Ervin G. 'Butch' Falkavage Ervin G. "Butch" Falkavage, 96, Stevens Point, died Thursday, March 11, 2010, at St. Michael's Hospital in Stevens Point. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with the Rev. Al Burkhardt officiating. Burial will be in Guardian Angel Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church from 9:30 a.m. Monday until the Mass. Pisarski/Dzikoski Funeral Home of Stevens Point is assisting the family with arrangements. Condolences may be offered online at www.pisarskifuneralhome.com. Mr. Falkavage was born Oct. 1, 1913, in Stevens Point, a son of the late Frank and Lucy (Duberstein) Falkavage. He attended St. Peter Grade School and graduated from Emerson High School in 1932. He entered the United States Army on March 27, 1942, in Madison. He served as a tech 4 during World War II. He served in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe. He received the Victory Medal, American Theatre Ribbon, European/African/Middle Eastern Theatre Ribbon with Four Bronze Battle Stars, three Overseas Service Bars, one Service Stripe and the Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged as a sergeant on Nov. 6, 1945, at Fort Sheridan. Ill. He was married to Alice Pleet on July 10, 1943, at St. Michael Church in Wausau. After their marriage they settled in Stevens Point. He worked for Copps Corp. for more than 40 years until his retirement in 1976. He was a member of American Legion Berens-Scribner Post 6 of Stevens Point and Msgr. McGinley Council 1170 of the Knights of Columbus. He and his wife were also members of the Harmonia Club for many years. He spent time at the family summer home in Minocqua. Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Jean (Richard Scherkenbach) Falkavage, South St. Paul, Minn.; and one son, John, Stevens Point. He was also preceded in death by four sisters, Lucille Kolinski, Alice Falkavage, Esther Ludwikowski and Lorraine Falkavage; and five brothers, Julian, Frank Jr., Raymond, Richard and Florian. |
