Philip J. Doll

Philip J. Doll, 51, Amherst, a former Dubuque, Iowa, resident, died Tuesday, March 9, 2010, at Rochester Methodist Hospital in Rochester, Minn.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. James Catholic Church in Amherst, with the Rev. Robert Pedretti officiating.

Visitation will be at the church from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday and again from 9:30 a.m. Monday until the Mass. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday at the church.

A memorial has been established in his name in lieu of flowers.

The Jungers-Holly Funeral Home of Amherst is assisting the family with arrangements. Condolences may be offered online at

Mr. Doll was born Nov. 3, 1958, in Dubuque, Iowa, a son of Patricia (Jans) Doll and the late Robert Doll.

He was married to Kristine Kunnert in 1983 in Dubuque, Iowa.

He was involved in coaching youth baseball in the Amherst and Plover area.

Survivors include his wife, Kristi; four children, Joe, Jess, Sam and Willie; his mother, Patricia Doll, Dubuque, Iowa; two brothers, Pete (Ann), Davenport, Iowa, and Tom (Mary Dodds), Excelsior, Minn.; and four sisters, Paula (Peter) Doll-Wildenberg, St. Paul, Minn., Barb (John Stelmasik) Doll, Eagan, Minn., Janet (Rick) Brimeyer, Ames, Iowa, and Pam (Chris) Theisen, Dubuque, Iowa.
