Glenn Bruins

Glenn Bruins, 80, Alto, father of a Stevens Point woman, died Friday, March 5, 2010, at the Markesan Resident Home in Markesan.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Alto Reformed Church in Alto, with the Rev. Gregg Pusateri officiating. Burial will be in Alto Cemetery in the town of Alto in Fond du Lac County.

Visitation will be at the Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home in Waupun from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday and at the church from 9:30 a.m. Monday until the services.

Memorials may be directed to the World Home Bible League or the Alto Reformed Church library.

Mr. Bruins was born May 31, 1929, in the town of Alto in Fond du Lac County, a son of the late Clarence and Angeline Kemink Bruins.

He was married to Betty Vande Zande on June 4, 1952, at Bethel Reformed Church in Brandon.

Following their marriage, the couple resided in the town of Alto all their married life.

He ran a dairy farm until the mid-1970s while also being employed at Speed Queen in Ripon for 28 years, retiring in 1994.

He was a member of the Alto Reformed Church in Alto, where he taught Sunday School, was a sponsor for Junior Christian Endeavor and a member of the Golden Lifers. He was also a member of the Speed Queen Retirees.

He was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and the Marshview Nature Center.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Paul (Debbie), Alto, and Doug (Paula), Mukwonago; two daughters, Susan (James) Schulfer, Stevens Point, and Lisa (Herb) Semrow, Brodhead; and 10 grandchildren.
