James R. Rutkowski

James R. Rutkowski, 55, Las Animas, Colo., a Stevens Point native, died June 30, 2010, after a battle with colon cancer.

Memorial services were held July 3 at the Rutkowski family farm, with the Rev. Rhonda Plinske officiating.

Horber Funeral Chapel in Las Animas, Colo., assisted the family with arrangements.

Mr. Rutkowski was born March 23, 1955, in Stevens Point, a son of Richard and Carol Rutkowski.

He was married to Cecelia Miller on July 27, 1974, in Las Animas, Colo.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Vietnam War.

He worked on the family farm and was a farm management instructor at Lamar Community College for several years. He served as a 4-H leader.

After selling the farm in 2002, he and his wife traveled throughout the U.S. and Canada in their recreational vehicle.

Survivors include his wife, Cecelia; one daughter, Cammie (Jeff) Dysthe, Beaver Creek, Minn.; two sons, Lee, Lexington, Neb., and Philip, Lenox, S.D.; his parents, James and Carol Glodowski, Appleton; two brothers, Tim, Prescott, Ariz., and John, Milwaukee; three sisters, Mary Buser, Appleton, Nancy (David) Strickland, Frisco, Texas, and Sue Rutkowski, Appleton; and two grandchildren.
