| Clarence F. 'Toscher' Skierka Clarence F. "Toscher" Skierka, 83, formerly of Shantytown, died Wednesday, July 21, 2010, at the Stevens Point Care Center. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Pisarski Community Funeral Home in Plover. Burial will take place for Mr. Skierka and his wife, Gladys, at a later date in the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church Parish Cemetery in Knowlton. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 9 a.m. Friday until the services. Memorials may be made in his name to Ministry Home Care-Hospice Services. Condolences may be offered online at www.pisarskifuneralhome.com. Mr. Skierka was born Nov. 9, 1922, in Marathon County, a son of the late Anton and Martha (Bunczak) Skierka. He was married to Gladys Garski on June 23, 1952, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Torun. She died on Jan. 9, 2008. After their marriage the couple settled in the town of Sharon. He worked for Consolidated Paper Mills as a carpenter until retiring in 1985. He also ran his own hobby shop, fixing tractors, building trailers, repairing old cars and farm machinery. Survivors include two sons, Jerry, Nekoosa, and Myron (Cindy), Stevens Point; one daughter, Diane (Dan) Eron, Stevens Point; one brother, Bobby (Diane) Ganski, Stevens Point; one sister, Mary Hoppa, Shantytown; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one daughter-in-law, Cindy (Brian) Feit, Mosinee. He was also preceded in death by one son, LeRoy, and several brothers and sisters. |
