James E. Palm

James E. "Jim" Palm, 91, Wausau, a former worker with Midstate Airlines in Stevens Point, died Sunday, July 25, 2010, at the Mount View Care Center, Garden Side Crossing Memory Unit in Wausau from the affects of Alzheimer's disease.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 30, at St. Matthew Catholic Church in Wausau, with the Rev. Robert Thorn officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Wausau.

Visitation will be at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home in Wausau from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and at the church from 9:30 a.m. Friday until the Mass. Full military honors will be conducted by the American Legion Montgomery Plant Post 10 in Wausau.

A memorial fund will be set up and all contributions will be donated to the National Ski Patrol and the Alzheimer Association and Foundation.

Mr. Palm was born Feb. 21, 1929, in Fond du Lac, a son of the late William and Louise (Bennet) Palm.

He was married to Glorianne Baur on June 2, 1951, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Halder.

He served in the United States Navy from 1946 until 1953.

For 31 years, he worked as director of sales development for North Central/Republic Airlines until his retirement in 1984. Following his retirement, he worked as director of marketing for Midstate Airlines until 1986 and then served as senior vice president Graebel Van Lines Inc. until 1999.

In 1959, he was contacted by Vince Lombardi to help coordinate travel for the Green Bay Packers and he traveled with them for many years. He then began working for the Green Bay Packers as a spotter/statistician with Max McGee and Jim Irwin for more than 20 years.

He was active for more than 40 years with the National Ski Patrol.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Peter (Cindy), Bessemer, Mich., William (Carol), Hudson and Patrick, Lakewood, Colo.; five grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
