| Eleanor E. Bacon Eleanor Eloise Bacon, 89, Hancock, died Friday, July 23, 2010, at Harmony Living Center in Stevens Point. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Leikness & Stahl Funeral Home in Plainfield, with the Rev. Yul Kwon officiating. Burial will be in the North Deerfield Cemetery in Hancock. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday and from 10 a.m. Wednesday until the services. An Eastern Star Service will be held at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Condolences may be offered online at www.plainfieldfuneralhome.com. Mrs. Bacon was born Sept. 2, 1920, in Hancock, a daughter of the late Worth J. and Ellen (Barnes) Staples. She was married to Merle G. Bacon on June 15, 1941, in Hancock. He died on Dec. 28, 1978. They farmed in the Hancock area for 54 years. She was a life member of the Eastern Star and was a member of the Oasis Prairie Homemaker's Club. Eloise was a seamstress and quilter. She volunteered at Ministry St. Michael's Hospital in Stevens Point. She was member of the Hancock United Church of Christ where she participated in the Ladies Aid for many years. Survivors include three sons, Larry (Judy), Randell (Sharon) and Gayle (Linda), all of Hancock; one daughter, Linda (John) Richardson, Omro; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Vance Staples. |
